Weekend Discussion Thread: Memorable ‘Bot Alterations

Okay, for this one, I am doing only structural changes to the bots themselves, not costumes, wigs, etc. There are many more than this. My favorites, in episode order:

• 321- SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS–Christmas versions of the bots: Tom’s head is a snow globe, Crow’s nose is a festive red. A great touch to a perennial favorite episode.
• 510- THE PAINTED HILLS–ingot Crow: Hilarious bot building.
• 518- THE ATOMIC BRAIN–Weather Servo 9: It’s cooooold in space.
• 609- THE SKY DIVERS–Planetarium Tom: Let’s probe Uranus!
• 610- THE VIOLENT YEARS–Servo’s new head!: My all-time favorite. Riotous.
• 618- HIGH SCHOOL BIG SHOT–huge Tom Servo: Movie bad!
• 806- THE UNDEAD–imp Crow: Tee-hee!
• 814- RIDING WITH DEATH–Tom’s buttless truck driver body: “Hideous”–Mike Nelson.
• 912- THE SCREAMING SKULL–screaming skull Crow: hilarious build for a hilarious segment
• 1007- TRACK OF THE MOON BEAST–Blossomed Tom: looks tasty!
Honorable mention:
• 511- GUNSLINGER–“Kaboom” Tom: Pop him!

And I agree about missing much of the robots’ ROBOTNESS when they started becoming more cartoony. Quickly grew used to it of course just like Kevin as Servo but how long can you write the bots being rewarded with RAM chips before getting bored? Still, their “ROBOTNESS” still came up plenty enough over the years even though they showed human traits such as eating food, bathing and finding women (Human and robot, sometimes male) attractive. Certain Robot-y things during the Sci-Fi years come to mind.

Dave-o, #’s 47 & 48, you mentioned Mike and Joel in a couple of things. Remember, we’re not doing costumes (or humans), we’re doing actual alterations of the robots.

Episode 413: Manhunt In Space. Joel modifies Crow into a guitar and Servo becomes an amplifier.

I liked Tom’s Grandma (she’s the one who kills people. That’s how I tell them apart.

The Tom Servo Choir was great. (Inky dinky parle vu.)

Unusual topic Sampo, but I like it! Here are mine:

    – Joel beefs up the ‘bots during “Hercules Vs. the Moon Men”. Tom’s arms are rejected, much to Crow’s delight: “Tommy Torso!”
    – Servo’s haircut in season 2; he does look like that dude from “House Party” alittle.
    – Crow in the Absolute Zero chamber at the beginning of “Eegah!”. “I’m shattered!”
    – Crow (or is it “Art”?) sporting his Gene Simmons tongue when they rip into their “Gee-Lah!” act.
    – Servo’s Christmas snow globe for “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” is perhaps the best.

I also have a certain fondness for Crow being used as a christmas tree during season K to cover for Trace being out of town.

I like Crow’s blinking eyes when he becomes SPACE CHILD during The Mole People. Also, when he changes his bowling pin and gets a new voice. -.^

#45 – You kind of answered my question about when Crow had a baseball mitt in place of his hockey mask. It was Time of the Apes where Servo was that Tee Ball…thingee.

In QUEST OF THE DELTA KNIGHTS – One of the “Singing Servos’ performs as a female lead and even has a huge pair of ‘Robot Breasts.’ This is something I imagine Bender would dig.

Sorry, I really hate to ask this but have you got any recommendation on stopping spam? My sites have been getting hammered recently and I’m not quite certain how to stop it.
