This week’s topic came to me this week, as I contemplated the upcoming start of the new season of Cinematic Titanic live shows, and along with the announcement of the latest RiffTrax VOD title, “Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe,” hard on the heels of the live show and the recent VOD release of “Galaxy Invader.”
What do those two things have in common? Well, to me it feels like the MST3K is truly back. Yes, it’s a hoot when RiffTrax does an audio track for a major Hollywood stinker, but the unreconstructed MSTie in me gets a special thrill when either group takes on a terrible, low-budget oldie, like “Maniac” or “The Alien Factor.”
And what that means to me is: for the first time in a long time, it’s possible that some of those bad, low-budget movies that MST3K never got around to may FINALLY, some day soon, get the treatment they deserve. Yay!
So, with that wordy preamble, the question for the weekend is: If you had a chance to pitch one terrible movie to Cinematic Titanic and/or RiffTrax, what would you suggest?

Have ya’ll seen the original Boggy Creek I? It’s horrible, its like a documentary film with a bunch of locals, I can’t even imagine either team even riffing it. The sequel (or third one technically) is much better.

Viva Knevil: Everyone’s stupidly named stunt idol in his very own movie, but no one bothered to give ole Evel any acting lessons. You have Lesile Neelson as an evil drug dealer who hates Evel because he tells kids drugs aren’t cool. Lesile, Camroon Mitchel, and Evel’s stunt rival Marjoe Gurtner play for poor Evel to die, so they can stuff his trail full of drugs and take it from Mexico to America. Because, why on Earth would the feds no think to search his trail for drugs. On top of all this Evel’s drunked sidekick is none other than Gene Kelly. Who has a ten year old son that he must bond with just like in Over The Top. Lesile slips him drugs and puts him in a Mexican insane asylum (sp?). Also, Marjoe dies while trying to do the stunt that Lesile set Evel up to die doing because of his own idiot ego. What’s not to love?

I’m going to try for something a little different. I want healing. I want to see CT/RT do two movies that scared the living bejeezus out of me when I was like 7 or 8 years old and that I haven’t seen since.
For CT, I would like to them to do “Werewolf in a Girl’s Dormitory” about (you guessed it) a werewolf in a girl’s dormitory. It’s a Hammer film, I believe, from the mid ’60’s. I don’t remember too much about it. I spent just about the whole movie covering my eyes. Would like to see it again with the appropiate riffing just to see what it was that the scared the s***t out of me.
For Rifftrax, I would like them to riff on “The H-Man”, a b&w Japanese film about a radioactive blob-like creature. For whatever reason, this movie really creeped me out.
After all, MST3K did “The Crawling Eye”, which was the first horror movie I remember seeing when I was 5 years old. And I remember I spent much of that movie hiding behind a chair. Kinda silly when you think about it, but it did.

for RT: Dennis Ray Steckler’s “The Hollywood Strangler vs. The Skid Row Slasher”. I’ve never seen it. I just like the title. Sounds like it could be the “Freddy Vs. Jason” of its time, but, then again, considering its source, probably not.
