Plans for RiffTrax Streaming Shows Change

RiffTrax has provided more information about their upcoming netcasts, and they’ve changed their plans a bit. They will again be using the UStream system.

On Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Pacific, instead of the previously announced “Vodka tasting,” they’ll be free showing the first 10 minutes of their next VOD title, “Sons of Hercules: Land of Darkness.”

Meanwhile, the “Halloween Double-feature” has moved to Thursday, Oct. 27 (time TBA): They’ll be showing a mix of previously released shorts and features: “Magical Disappearing Money,” “Maniac,” “The Creeps Machine” and “Night of the Living Dead.” It will cost $2 to view.

More info when we get it.

Keep in mind, we’ll still be doing the vodka tasting – we’ve just postponed it until sometime in November when Kevin and Bill are in town again!

  2. I hope the Sons of Herc show has the theme music:

    It’s like a sword-and-sandals “Bonanza.”

So is the Halloween double feature show going to actually be performed live by the fellas, or is it just a streamed presentation of the regular studio releases?

  4. Well, I’ll buy the Hercules VOD, just like I buy all their stuff, but it’s a disappointing they couldn’t do another RT Fanthom event.

As for this internet stuff, as Leo D once said, “Include me out”.

If they were riffing Maniac and Creeps Machine live that would be worth checking out… If it’s just streaming I’ll skip it. Will definitely check out Sons of Hercules. And if anyone at Rifftrax is reading this, please release THE DEVIL’S HAND, THE GALAXY INVADER, THE CRATER LAKE MONSTER, ABRAXIS, and LASER MISSION on DVD as soon as possible!

Oh sure, move it to the same night as Cinematic Titanic is in D.C., why don’t you.

Eh, it’s not like Rifftrax won’t screw this up again.

Slappette and I will be birthing a baby that day, Slapperina’s little sister Slappertina. So I will probably be busy. Have fun, kids.

    A Rifftrax crew member mentioned:

“It’s much more professional now. We now have green screen, a virtual set, proper lighting, and higher quality audio equipment (not to mention the beefed up network infrastructure.) We’ve worked long and hard on making this look and function well and can’t wait to do some live riffs.”

Should we expect to see this in future VODs or only in Rifftrax Live Fathom Events? Because, from what I gather the Halloween-Double Feature is just going to be a streaming of previously-released content, correct me if I am wrong?

I will go out to a movie theater ANYTIME for a Rifftrax Live simulcast, but their record on live streaming events leaves me a mite dubious.

That said, the Rifftrax gang have been on a tear of great stuff lately — Abraxas, Laser Mission, and I can’t wait for the Son of Herc. download!

So I’ll try the streaming event but I don’t expect to get very far before everything freezes…..

Give the folks at RiffTrax credit for continuing to try new things. Some haven’t worked out well, but they keep on coming. I’ll watch everything they offer and I’m always sure to get a laugh.

With that said. unfortunately I just can’t make it either this Friday or it seems next Thurday. I’ll be on the road for work and may not be able to access the site.

Would anyone be willing to make a few screen grabs from both events to post on mst3ktemple.com? I’d be happy to give you credit for your help. If so, let me know (trnoel@hotmail.com).

Haven’t seen Night of the Living Dead riffed so that should be fun. I just hope they do this in the evening after I get home from work.

And if I were Kevin and Bill I’d demand a postpone for vodka tasting for sure! But doesn’t that mean now they have to do it in drag? (you have to pay the vodka ferryman, guys).

Tried to watch the SONS OF HERULES preview. The live introduction by Mike (and Sean) worked fine, but when the movie started I got no audio, just a tinny buzz. Other people said they heard the riffing AND the tinny buzz. A couple of people said the audio was fine, but they were definitely the minority. I hope this all works eventually because that vodka tasting sounds like it will be very entertaining!

I had no problem with the sound. No tinny buzz, but I was listening through headphones, so that may have made the difference. Will definitely be watching the show next Thursday. Well worth the two bucks.

I had the same “tinny” sound over my speakers, but the preview sounded much better on headphones…weird. Anyhoo, it was a nice preview and I can’t wait to see Bill slammin’ vodka and getting in a fight with anyone around him…or for those that know Bill…”Friday”… :-))

In preparation for the event, I HIGHLY recommend viewing the iRiffs of “Sons of Herc: Land of Darkness” from “Just Andrew” and “America’s Favorite Guy”. Both excellent. :-D

Just finished the Halloween double feature. I hadn’t seen Maniac or The Creeps Machine before. The streaming worked well; for three hours of riffs, I got my $2 worth. There was even a best of reel they showed in between.

  21. You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation however I in finding this matter to be actually one thing that I think I might never understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely large for me. I’m looking forward on your next post, I’ll try to get the grasp of it!
