Unless I’ve missed it, I don’t think there’s been any mention of the guy who found the 16mm workprint of Manos.

I’m hoping they just forgot to mention a download option, because if there isn’t one that’s kind of a deal breaker for me.

I notice that the CT website still offers download options on all of their other videos. It will probably be the same with War of the Insects.

@20 hungry and a little confused..When a friend of mine saw them in California a month ago(or whenever it was),she asked them when is RATTLERS going to be available on dvd and one of them said in January.I figured it would, since it’s the movie they did right after WAR OF THE INSECTS,but I’m wondering, didn’t they do SAMSON AND THE SEVEN MIRACLES before that? I wonder if they’ll release that one sometime??

At long last, I’ve been patiently waiting for a new CT DVD forever (or so it feels like). Hopefully this marks them coming out with regular releases again; quarterly would be fine by me.

Not purchasing until there is a show in Atlantic City or going to bother with looking at the trailer. It will make my hatred for this group go into Overload status.

Though I don’t feel as strongly as the above poster, all in all Im pretty disappointed in CT. When they first started, it was suggested that there would be many CD’s coming out. Instead, they morphed
into a mostly live act, milking the same dozen or so movies. To compare them with Rifftrax is probably not fair, and I think sometimes Rifftrax has quality vs quantity problems of their own, but seriously, after 4 years, I can’t believe how few movies CT has riffed, and how they keep recycling them.

  27. Gary Bowden says:

@25 Laura..Yes,we know. We’ve heard it a million times,so get over it,ok? I mean,it’s not their fault for them not coming to Atlantic City. Why have hatred for a group for something that’s out of their control? You’ve had more opportunities to see them, but you didn’t make the effort to go see them.Oh,that’s right, you’re unemployed..Funny,you buy things from Rifftrax and they’ve never been to A.C… :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame:

  28. Gary Bowden says:

@26 spinalpap..Gee,do you think it’s because the money is coming out of their own pockets? Unlike Rifftrax. How many movies and shorts do you think Rifftrax would release if it came out of their pockets? Not as much as they would do now,I betcha.Plus, the performers of CT also do stand-up and other things,too..Even though CT doesn’t come out with much movies as Rifftrax,I still look forward to their next release.Listen, they don’t owe US anything,do they? Do you gripe and whine when a certain artist or group doesn’t come out with an album every month??

I find this lack of faith disturbing…..I would love to see CT live but distance/cost has prevented this from happening. I will not disparage them for not coming to a nearby city. I would love to see more dvds be released each year but that is all up to CT and what they decide is what they are gonna do. Do not lament for what you don’t have, rejoyce for what you do have…a continuation of the quality riffing that gave us MST3K. And guess what….we all get another dvd from CT in a few scant days. The sun is shining:sun:, the birds are singing:chick: and the flowers are all in bloom:rose: soon laughter will fill my heart….thank you CT, thank you.

Weren’t the movies of CT in public domain? I thought that Wasp Woman and The Doomsday Machines were.

I’m just grateful when Rifftrax or CT comes out with anything. I still remember the dark days after MST3K ended. It was horrible! There was nobody to lessen the pain as I watched these horrible movies. So “Thank You” MST3K alumni for stepping back into the game and keeping us laughing!

    @ #30

Yes, CT tends to pick public domain movies BUT I believe they still have to do due dilligence to make sure the movies are in public domain.

If you go to CT’s website and read the write-up Joel did about “Wasp Woman” you’ll realize what kind of trouble you can get into if you can’t prove the copyright has lapsed on something.

They also, where and when possible, seem to try to be nice and contact the original creators of the movie to make sure they’re okay with what they do. They’ve had to change some titles at the requests of the original people involved. It generally prevents any bad feelings… and also, at heart, I think Joel and the gang are still just nice people who don’t really want to see anyone get their feelings hurt.

Also, the guys don’t have a research team as they did back in the old days — they have to find a movie bad enough and at the same time good enough to provide them with fodder. Then they have to make sure it’s public domain AND be able to produce the research they did to prove it’s public domain just in case someone comes calling. Then all five of them have to sit down and write jokes. Then all the jokes have to be sent in to Josh who has to compile them then, I assume, he sends a script out to all five (who all live in different states except for Josh and Frank) who have to make any changes they want and then they have to sign off on the changes… etc., etc.

And in the midst of all of this they have other work that they’re doing and family and etc., etc., etc.

When you look at it all and realize that they’re basically doing all this heavy lifting themselves it isn’t hard to figure out. It’s a lot of work. And in the meantime all the tour dates are keeping the group afloat so that they CAN afford to put out more material. It’s a balancing act to have the time to tour and the time to produce new scripts when you’ve basically got a staff of five who do everything except the booking.

All that being said…. Crap. Thanks to Christmas purchases for family members I probably won’t have the money for this one until after the new year. I may just save up and buy the two together.

Hey Laura, i went ahead and took 15 seconds out of my life to find you bus routes from ac to wilmington de AND driving directions since you cabr seem to find them yourself through your tears. Here ya go:

    http://www.theatlanticcitycasinos.com/trains.html

    http://www.distancebetweencities.net/wilmington_de_and_atlantic-city_nj/route

Now before you post that you can’t afford to travel or that your car is an unreliable POS ask yourself how is that CTs problem. Because its not. It’s Laura’s problem. You see. They don’t owe you squat, apparently creating a TV series that has given you years of enjoyment isn’t enough they need to cater to you every need or you will ‘boycott’ them. I’m sure Joel loses sleep every night worrying about selfish Laura from AC.

    Dear Laura,

I’ve met you at previous shows (and even your Mother!) so I feel as if I know you somewhat. As has been stated, CT is an Artist-Based endevour and doesn’t have the freedom to perform wherever we like (and we’d love to perform in everybody’s backyard, if we could!) Please don’t hate us for not having a show close to you. We constantly try to go as far afield as we can to be with the people who mean the most to us. Which is everyone. Including you.
