Weekend Discussion Thread: Your Favorite Multi-Segment Story Line

Alert regular “sitting duck” notes:

Normally, the host segments are fairly self-contained. However, there are times where a sketch would take two or more host segments. So the question is: what is your favorite multi-segment sketch? Though it’s likely due to it being in the first MST3K episode I ever saw, mine would be the Cheating Saga from “The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman.” But I also have some fondness for the “Mirror Mirror” parody in “Last of the Wild Horses” and Mike’s trial for his planet-killing spree in “Agent for H.A.R.M.”

A timely suggestion, considering that “Last of the Wild Horses” is going to be in the next set from Shout!

Me, I’m going to go with the “Timmy the alien” story line from “Fire Maidens of Outer Space” (which should also be on a future set, Shout people!)

What’s your pick?

I always loved the one where Servo, after seeing the dating short, decides he wants to ask Gypsy on a date. Watching his reaction after striking out is pure comedy gold.

Frank planning(badly) to blow up Deep 13 during The Sinister Urge is my favorite. One of my favorite Tom/Crow exchanges of all time. Tom: “Hey, I stopped that bus and I saved them kids!” Crow: “All but one, the one you let drive.” Tom: “But he showed me his license!” Crow: “He was 7!”

Timechasers, my first ever episode. I wonder what the other Crow is up to now?

  4. I’m going to agree with “The Sinister Urge”.

Saved by potato cakes! (Like Dr. F., I can’t not eat one right out of the bag.)

    1) The Brains getting the frustration of producing “MST3K: The Movie” out of their systems with the “Earth vs Soup” story during Incredible Shrinking Man (plus it’s one of my top 5 for the riffing done on the movie).

    2) “Mirror, Mirror” from Last of the Wild Horses. Starts out strong, flags in the middle and ends on an upswing with the agony booth.

    3) Joel trying to cheer up Gypsy during Wild Rebels.

    4) Tom asks Gypsy out on a date during Swamp Diamonds.

#26 Mr. B(ob): Man, we are riding them same wavelength.

    1) Timmy. Simply, Timmy.

    2) Crow going back in time in Time Chasers

Least favorite: Joel leaving in Mitchell. Sniff.

I always like the segments after the cheating short from wild world of batwoman, where crow cheats on his essay…

Either Mike’s trial from “Agent For H.A.R.M.” or Mike and the bots making a movie but getting executive meddling in “The Incredible Melting Man”.

My personal favorite has to be Crow’s Cheating from The Wild Wild World Of Batwoman.

Finally a couple of mentions for “Crow’s cheating” storyline. And Wild World of Batwoman is a severely underrated episode. One of my favorites for sure, whether it be wrestling over control of a horseshoe, or “the pill taking” scene. This one is in my top 5 for sure! “End!!!! End!!!!”

I’m right there with you on Batwoman being an underrated ep, Brian T (or do they call you “Mr. T?”). It’s in my top ten!

Waffles! from Viking Women Vs. The Sea Serpent, the wormhole sketches from Prince Of Space, the time travel bits from Time Chasers (especially Mike’s older brother, cracks me up every time), Timmy, Steffi, Mike the temp helping Gypsy spring Joel (Frank: “Hey! That’s my old head!!”), Earth Vs. Soup getting greenlit and then unmercifully squashed, and yeah, I also have to say Last Of The Wild Horses just for Frank and Dr. F singing the Joey The Lemur song. But the waffle sketches are a special favorite.
