There was a lot of speculation about wgat they were going to do with Manos, everybody was hoping for a live event, and the Master listened to us!

I wonder if they are using restored footage from the Manos: The Restoration Project or the “original” faded transfers first used on MST3K. Either way, I’m looking forward to this, it’s been too long since the last Rifftrax Live show.

  9. Creeping-Death says:

I’m guessing, that with some of the guarded comments Ben Solovey(the guy doing the restoration) made, they will be doing it with restored footage.

They should make a new version of MST3K: Essentials with the Rifftrax of Manos Hands of Fate and the Cinematic Titanic of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

Confirmation of Manos in HD (if it wasn’t evident already):

“It will be HD, and it will be new jokes, of course! Don’t want to anger The Master!”

Is it too early for me to set up a tent like a total fanboy outside the theater or is that just inviting the chance that come August they will find a skeleton (a fat skeleton, but a skeleton nonetheless) wearing a Crow t-shirt in the bushes of the Florence Mall cinemas?

Fantastic news. This, along with the next series of MST titles AND Corman’s World out now? It’s like I’ve died and gone to a very nerdy Heaven.

I’m assuming this will also be the uncut version complete with the Master slapping his bride repeatedly and Hal Warren suddenly tumbling down a hill.

August looks pretty good to me right about now. It’ll start with the Wayne County Fair, finish up with Star Wars Celebration VI, and have “Manos” between them.

  32. Mr. B(ob) says:

    Per Michael J Nelson:

“A few people have asked so just to clarify, our upcoming “Manos” The Hands of Fate live show with Fathom is unrelated to the HD-restoration of “Manos” fronted by Ben Solovey. His project is still going on, looks fantastic and information is available here. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1325482813/manos-the-restoration

As it is, our version for the Fathom show is a very nice theatrical print (I’m quite sure you’ll prefer it over the available VHS versions) but IS NOT his print.

When his immaculate restored print becomes available, I will be one of the first in line to get it! (I will be dressed as Torgo in an attempt to curry favor. But then so will everyone else in line, including the women.)”

I can’t wait! I’ll be bringing all of my wives, er, I mean “friends” to the event.

By the way, I believe the fitting locale for this event would be in a theater in El Paso since Manos was filmed there. (Sorry Chicago.)
