Now THIS Rifftrax is one I heartily endorse. I have been an M. Night fan for a while, and I even liked Lady In The Water for what it was.

But The Happening was just a bad movie, with a preposterous conclusion. I might buy this just to see them stick it to M Night (yea, like I’m gonna try and spell his last name) for this garbage film.

Excellent! I’m glad they haven’t abandoned their riffing of crappy movies. :!:

i was just thinking yesterday they should riff this!

  7. Captain Cab says:

Yeah, this is perfect. Not just for how stupid it is, but how M. Night reportedly went for a deliberate 1950s sci fi feel for the theme/tone.

Also, I wish the guys would riff more older movies from the last few decades. How about some 80s movies? My #1 wanted rifftrax? The gloriously and goofily wretched ET ripoff/McDonald’s/Sears ad Mac and Me. Is there a suggestion box of sorts on the site? Heck, I’d almost be willing to start a petition for that movie to be rifftracked. Do yourself a favor and youtube “Mac and Me scary.” Hilarity.

  8. Sean says:

Perfect riff fodder. Some of their recent picks weren’t really ripe for goofing on, so it’s nice for a return to a movie just dripping with riff potential.

Bwa-ha-ha! A good friend of mine got to work on this movie as an intern. So I know someone in a RiffTrax-ed movie now! My life is complete!*

*Your definition of “complete” may vary.

Was anyone else laughing hysterically at the ad campaign for this movie? “M. Night Shamallmalamlamlamlaama’s FIRST R-RATED MOVIE!!!”

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!! Maybe someone says a cuss-language!

Are you kidding me? “R-rated” is a huge selling point?! What year did they think it was?

Yeah, I was just thinking how much better The Sixth Sense would have been if Bruce Willis just cursed out Haley Joel Osment.

“I get it. I’m #@%%ing DEAD! Now shut up and stop being emo!”

  13. Dr. Batch says:

I agree. I couldn’t understand why they were marketing it as a R-rated film. The more I think about this movie, the dumber it is. The trees are taking revenge on humans. And all they have to do is stay ahead of the wind. Gimme a break!

  14. I'm not a medium, I'm a petite says:

Ahhh the paradox of the Rifftrax biz model.

Speaking only from the reviews I’ve read, they are riffing here what is a pretty poor film. I’m totally on board with riffing bad movies. No problem here, no criticism.

BUT. The underlying assumption of Rifftrax is that people HAVE the DVD. Ownership is not the only option of course, you can netflix it or get it at the library, but ‘owners of the DVD’ must make up a material part of their demographic.

AND. There is often ( not always ) a strong correlation between box-office and DVD sales. I don’t think that there are a LOT of DVD owners for this particular film. Relative to say LOTR or Titanic or what have you.

SO. Riffing GOOD movies ( which some of us disagree with, but which many people own the DVDs of ) is a better business model than riffing BAD movies ( which some of us think is most cool, but which not many people own the DVD of ).

    sigh.

I dunno, I just watched the preview here, and that might’ve been all of this movie that I can handle.

Seems like a Monster A Go Go for a new generation…

    Old Yeller, nooo!!

Wow. What crappy dialogue. The riffers seem to be on their game on this one. This preview actually made me laugh. One prob – I don’t want to buy the DVD!!!

Zoe Deschanel (sp?) DOES look like a bush baby! God, what a crappy actress!

    Beware the Wind!
