New VOD Title from RiffTrax…and an Interview

I’m likin’ this one already, just by the title.

Download it and see a sample here.

Meanwhile, Barry Thompson of the Boston Phoenix interviews the guys as the “Manos” show gets ever closer!

I know I’ve asked it before but Where do they get these movies!? Did someone clean out their couch cushions? Anyway I’m always happy to see them tackle these abominations. Always a treat.

This looks like an amazing movie. Is that El Santo I wonder?
I also love that of all the wrestlers they could refer to in their description of this movie, the Rifftrax guys use Brutus Beefcake and the BUSHWHACKERS? Somebody stopped watching wrestling in 1992 methinks (though to be fair, they do mention Stone Cold Steve Austin).

Matt D, I just looked the movie up on IMDB, and it is not El Santo, but Wolf Ruvinskis Manevics. It would be awesome if they do more El Santo movie. He’s a folk hero in Mexico.

I squealed like a little girl finding a pony under the Xmas tree when I checked my email and saw RiffTrax did a Neutron movie. I love El Santo, but the Silver Maskman’s movies have nothing on Neutron

I’m excited, i LOVE the turn toward Video on Demand (Download) movies lately. Makes my dubbing life super easy now and I sorta prefer the old cheese movies vs blockbusters.

Now that I finally gave in and started doing the VOD movies rather than waiting for the physical DVDs, I’m able to quench my Rifftrax thirst much quicker and more frequently (and I save on all those pesky shipping fees!). These movies are too good to have to wait for!

Quick question though: on the last batch of VOD titles I downloaded (I did eight in the span of 3 or 4 days), the last three had an issue near the 45 minute mark and then on towards the end of the movie where it would skip around a lot. I tried re-burning one of them, but it did the same thing. I’ve since heard from Rifftrax that they’ve got new servers (or whatever the right term is), but before I try again, has anyone else experienced this and have any suggestions? Now that I finally converted to VODs, I don’t want to keep having problems with them!

I love the streaming function. I don’t even bother burning them anymore.

Viva La Lucha! This was the second film in the Neutron series, and the baddie in the white hood is not Santo, but a classic whacko called Dr. Caronte. Strangely enough, lab coat wearing Doctors and surgeons are almost villains in Mexican wrestling tradition. These Mexi-wrestler romps, full of monsters, gadgets, sports cars and beefy dudes in masks, are near perfect riffing fodder. I’d love to see more of them from Rifftrax or CT, but the problem is that precious few were ever dubbed into English.

Ay caramba! A true classic. The movie that inspired Truffaut to make his own movies, you don’t believe me?

  16. They had me at “Mexican wrestler movie”.

Ah, so much old cheesiness from Rifftrax. Wasn’t it TV’s Frank who lobbied so hard for the MST3K Mexican wrestler one? If so, there is some irony involved here.

As soon as I saw this in my email I bought it without even watching the sample. Bill, Mike, and Kevin making fun of a Mexican wrestler movie – sign me up!! They did not disappoint. I had to pause it a couple of times because I was laughing so hard I was missing other jokes. Keep the cheesy goodness coming guys – we love it!!!
