What would your set look like?

Re: “Incredible Melting Man”, I still go with my previous suggestion of including it into a multi-disc release combining it, MST3K-TM and “This Island Earth”. It would include promotional materials for all, the uncut original movies, deleted scenes, and “making of” documentaries narrated by Mark Hamill.

Now we just have to hope Shout can get the rights to MST3K-TM and TIE.

Mine wouldn’t have a special theme, just episodes I’d really like to see out:

418-ATTACK OF THE THE EYE CREATURES
    422-THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE
    523-VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS
    804-THE DEADLY MANTIS

    And another one:

    313-EARTH VS. THE SPIDER
    405-BEING FROM ANOTHER PLANET
    704-THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN
    1012-SQUIRM

Ironically, I was listening to “Shout” by Devo as I typed this.

Actually, #12, I quite love “Incredible Melting Man” too… As I believe I’ve made clear.

  4. AmbiguousG says:

Well, if virtually everything left was up for grabs, my first pick would be:

    213-Godzilla vs the Sea Monster
    309-The Amazing Colossal Man
    903-The Pumaman
    909-Gorgo

Simultaneously, 212-Godzilla vs Megalon would be a Shout! Select release (I wouldn’t need to buy it, seeing as I shelled out the cash for a copy of the original Volume 10, but it’s for all the others that haven’t yet).

    1. Women in charge!

    Jungle Goddess
    Viking Women
    Firemaidens
    Girls Town

    2. She Monsters!

    She Creature
    Terror from the Year 5000
    Leech Woman
and, er, Outlaw, on the theory that the queen is a monster

    3. Man Man! (because he’s a man, man) (yes, others have suggested this)

    Colossal Man
    Transparent Man
    Puma Man
    Projected Man

#40 How about the “This Almost Forms a Peculiar Sentence” boxed set featuring… “Being from another planet, I was a teenage werewolf stranded in space, riding with death!”

    clapclapclapclapclap!!

Hey! That suggests the Universal Monsters set:

    Being from Another Planet (mummy)
    Teenage Werewolf (self-explanatory)
    Transparent Man (likewise self-explanatory)
The Thing that Couldn’t Die (vampire; he thirsted for human blood, after all)

Shout volume XXX (“Triple X”) needs some “boobular tubular” episodes. Any of the following will do:

    Untamed Youth
Viking Women vs. the Sea Serpent
    Fire Maidens from Outer Space
    Outlaw
    Girls Town

  7. Sitting Duck says:

@ #24: The Gamera set is obviously all Joel, as is Volume XX (Project Moonbase, both Master Ninjas, and Magic Voyage of He’s Not Sinbad).

That Being From Another Planet and Riding With Death have not been released proves there is no true joy to be had in this world.

Wow- this is a great discussion. Really looking forward to the new set on Tuesday, and, the announcement of what’s coming in July.

I think a great set would be:
    Projected Man
    It lives by night
    Track of the moon beast
Werewolf (which is already released, but hey.)

10 points to gryffindor if anyone can guess the theme.

    Puma Man
    Riding with Death
    Painted Hills
    Attack of the Eye Creatures

No theme, just 4 of my faves not yet in a set.

@60: Well, they’re all “Guy transforms into monster, interfering with his unconvincing, unappealing romance” movies. And three of them have the monster guy named “Paul.”

#50: if they were to actually get Joe Don Baker on camera, I’d preorder that yesterday.

I guess you could call this set the Creatures set: ATTACK OF THE THE EYE CREATURES..FIREMAIDENS OF OUTER SPACE..THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN and HORROR OF PARTY BEACH…The extras would be: A documentary on directors Larry Buchanan,Cy Roth and Del Tenney..It would also include THE TV WHEEL,STATICAL PLANETS and the specials they had on the Sci-Fi channel.Plus a Life after MST3K about Bridget Jones and Paul Chaplin. It would also include trailers and tv spots for each movie and bumpers from Comedy Central..

#63 — A combo set with Mitchell and Final Justice, and a 2-hour rant by JDB on whether he hates Joel or Mike more…

@62: I could swear all four of them the main character was named paul. Either way, you win.

My 4 favorites that have yet to be released are The Day the Earth Froze, Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell, Pumaman and Squirm. I wonder if any of us will have a set that is close to what is released as XXVII?

The “It Came from Hell” Collection (there’s a reason for the episode choices):
    -Teenage Caveman
    -War of the Colossal Beast
    -Twelve to the Moon
    -Squirm

(Might replace one of the middle episodes with )

I’m a little late to the party, but here’s my “RELEASE THESE, ALREADY!!!” set which feature movies whose releases were not only just a matter of time, but for whom I have been BEGGING! Incidentally these can all be found in the Millcreek box-o-movies packs (except for “Day Earth Froze” which was on a DVD Double Feature with “Sinbad” and it’s my all-time favorite), so I only assume they’re coming at some point.

    205: Rocket Attack USA
    412: Hercules & Captive Women
    422: Day the Earth Froze
    605: Colossus and the Headhunters
1007: Track of the Moon Beast

The Thing that Wouldn’t Die –… you’re all evil and I hope you all have snacks!

    The Undead –STAY!!!!

The “Further Adventures of Torgo and Ortega” Collection:

Obviously we need “The The Collection”:

    The Leech Woman
    The Deadly Mantis
    The Thing that Wouldn’t Die
    The Undead

Feel free to substitute any other The title for my picks. THE!

may i pronounce the as “tha”?

I want to be able to say, The “Tha” Collection.

if i can, i will support this call for the Tha Collection.

  25. Gromilini says:

@73: Like it. Wouldn’t you almost have to include Attack of The The Eye Creatures? Should it be penalized for having the extra “the” in the wrong place?

Being a Big “G” fan. Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. Then chose any one of the other 61 eps. for the next 3 slots. I would be happy with that. This will never happen. But dare to dream.

  27. mtdeeley says:

I’d like to see sets that complete a season. All the remaining Season 1 or Season 7 episodes in one box.

Barring that, a “Giant Monsters Theme” with:
    Godzilla Vs. Megalon
    Godzilla vs. Sea Monster
    Gorgo
    The Deadly Mantis

    Or a “Giant People” set:
    Amazing Colossal Man
    War of the Colossal Beast
    Village of the Giants
    Colossus vs. The Head Hunters

    “All Sequels”
    Hercules
Hercules and the Captive Women, (competing the Hercules movies from Vol. 8)
    Outlaw (of Gor)
Deathstalker and the Warriors From Hell, (Deathstalker III)

    “Made for TV”
    Stranded in Space
    The Painted Hills (Lassie movie)
    San Francisco International
    Riding with Death

But I’d really love to see the rest of the movies from Vol. 9 re-released in Shout Select.

  28. Marc T says:

I haven’t seen the earlier episodes enough to attest for the good ones, but I’ve got these all already and they’re easy to love.
    805 – The Thing that Couldn’t Die
    817- Horror of Party Beach
    903 – The Puma Man
1007 – Track of the Moon Beast

couple of fine alternates (or start for the following set),
    814 – Riding with Death
    905 – Deadly Bees
    906 – Space Children
    912 – The Screaming Skull

  29. Statskeeper says:

    How about the Pomposity set?
    -Agent from HARM
    -San Francisco International
    -The She Creature
    -Puma Man

Complete with replicas of the Puma Man mask and a spore gun from HARM.

#73 The DVD menus will feature music from that band The The. I mean, I don’t even know if they’re still out there, perhaps they’d appreciate the gig.

I’ll toss in the ‘space cadets’ set…

    -Stranded In Space
    -Space Travellers
    -Fire Maidens From Outer Space
    -The Space Children

And the ‘Where y’all from?’ set…

    -Being From Another Planet
-Fire Maidens From Outer Space (Yes, again)
-Deathstalker And The Warriors From Hell
    -Terror From The Year 5000

But the set I’d rather like is…

    -Amazing Colossal Man
    -Earth Vs. The Spider
    -Teenage Caveman
    -High School Big Shot

…Because then I could get rid of two VHS tapes…
