SORRY FOR THE LATENESS OF THIS POST. Are you kidding? Did you loose touch with the people who started this whole thing? Would you have a site if it was not for these people? Is this the end of Cinematic Titanic? Could you have shown a little more respect for these people? I know if RIFF TRAX farted to a toilet paper commercial we’d have all kinds of samples and coverage. And this isn’t some sour grapes about RIFFTRAX/ OR CINEMATIC TITANIC I love all these people but I gotta say Sampo I’m really disappointed about this. I go to shows and tell people about this site, how cool it is and how people should check it out. Whenever there’s a show Riff Trax or CT show I look forward to reading about the show. My wife and I have tickets to the shows in MA. and I can’t wait to meet and see these people once more. I only hope we can comment on these shows when that time comes and they don’t just pass by with a Sorry for this lateness of this post. ( DON’T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YOU.) Thanks for allowing us to use your creative genius to build a web site around. Now get out of here you knuckleheads.
Gentlemen hang your heads in shame, put your tails between your legs and know I am very disappointed in you.
    Thanks for your time.
    Love and hugs.
    Captn. Ross Hagen
PS. I love this site and all the work that you’ve put into it. But I was bummed not to see anything about this show over the weekend.

I went to the Saturday 7:30 showing of Doll Squad and haven’t laughed that hard in a really long time.

The Arlington Cinema Draft House is a lot smaller than Lisner Auditorium (where they’ve performed in the past). I think all 4 shows sold out. I got to tell ya, the only thing better than a live CT show, is a live CT show with beer and pizza (I offered Trace a slice. He thought about it, but politely declined.)

The warmup was provided by Dave Gruber, J Elvis and Frank. It was all very casual and fun.

The Doll Squad movie is one of the best all-time films to receive the CT treatment. This 1970s Ted V. Mikels’ film about bouncy girl commandos killing ambiguous evil junta members gave so much for the CT crew to work with. And they knocked it out of the park every time. I won’t give any of the riffs away, but the funniest joke that night was at Frank’s expense.

We had to get home to the kids, so we couldn’t stay for the meet and greet this time.

I really hope they release Doll Squad on DVD or VOD before they disband. They were absolutely at the top of their game with this film. I have seen CT live 3 times now, and I think this was their best show by far. I am really going to miss them.

I only made it to the Friday night shows and here is my take: Everyone was fantastic! The early show was Astral Factor which was great. They really thrived when a character they called “Blackenstein” appeared. Late show was “Wasp Woman” and they revised quite a bit from the DVD. Gruber was as funny as I have ever seen in both pre-shows. Mary Jo did some cute intros and Frank did current movie reviews with the MST3K treatment. Josh played bass on a song with Gruber and the theme song “Elvis (Costello)” style. Trace did no pre-show and Joel just took some questions and deflected anything about this being the last year. They seemed to make a genuine effort to show appreciation for one another (a lot of hugging and back patting when they walked by each other) and they just seemed like they all made an effort to enjoy the evening.
I was surprised when we walked in the door at 7 (7:30 show) and first thing we see is Mary Jo is standing at a table schelpping photos. We talked to her for almost 5 minutes and she was very gracious with her time so close to the show. When we said we had seen them in Philadelphia she commented that they love playing there. I went through the meet and greet between shows and they were all nice as advertised. Trace told me he liked my “Push the Button, Frank” t-shirt.
It seems like Josh is the most energetic riffer. Maybe he wants to make up for being the “Servo that no one likes” (his words not mine).
I am not sure if we will get an opportunity to see them live again but it has been a great ride.

Ross> It seems to me the difference is Rifftrax makes Sampo’s job quite easy. I could be way off base here since I have no html or website experience but it looks like the Rifftrax stuff Sampo posts here are links with a quick intro Sampo writes. It is timely because again it is Rifftrax who sends out the emails reminding us of their releases and events.
Whereas the Cinematic Titanic reminder emails have slacked off. That means if it gets posted here Sampo has to remember to do it on his own. Given last weekend’s Cinematic Titanic shows weren’t in Sampo’s backyard it is understandable if it slipped his mind. One cannot remember everything at all times and sometimes a little something called life can get in the way as well.
I don’t know Sampo. Never met him. But I do know this site is a hobby/a labor of love that has to fit inbetween whatever day job the guy has and other life responsibilities. From where I sit he’s always gone out of his way to be quite neutral on Joel vs. Mike, Comedy Central vs. Sci-Fi or Rifftrax vs. Cinematic Titanic. It just doesn’t feel at all like a slight to me. If I were in his shoes I might have forgot to post this thread. I know when the final Cinematic Titanic performance in my area is. I don’t have the full schedule memorized.

Went to the showing of The Astral Factor and it was awesome. They did cut some of the movie though. Leslie Parrish’s scenes. I’m not complaining, and I doubt anyone who hasn’t seen the movie unriffed would have even noticed. I agree that the black Frankenstein riffs were the best.

When I went in it was Trace and not Mary Jo selling pics and posters. I wasn’t really paying attention to the seller, said I’d take a poster, recognized Trace then about pissed myself. I also enjoyed how the guys came out to the audience and played around a bit. Once Gruber was doing a song and Trace came out. Gruber eventually gave up, funny…

Also had nachos and a Tequilla Sunrise, which were delish!

That is heartbreaking. I personally prefer Kevin’s Servo, but then again Josh was incredibly young at the time that he was performing as Servo. I wasn’t nearly that funny when I was in high school.

#2, can I just say, “Welcome back, Norman!”

I enjoy the show reports, keep them coming. We just moved away from the northern VA area, where we were about 15 minutes away from the Drafthouse. Looking forward to the Northampton MA show in November.

Boy what a jerk #1 is, sounds like he’s got his head up his, wait a second I was #1. I didn’t want to offend anyone, and I’m sorry if I did. And #8 I’m not that rude, and thank you #9 ( sounds like the start of a Beatles song ) for seeing my post was not meant to be as rude as it may have sounded. I love this site and all the work that goes into it, and all the people that post here. I’ve said in the past this site as well as all the shows MST3K, RIFF TRAX, and CINEMATIC TITANIC have got me through some tough, dark times. Last year I was home with stomach problems from the second week of May ’till the third week of August. I’m 56 years old and it was like when I got out of school for the summer, it was the best summer I had in years but all the tests and medication was a pain. But my point is I was watching MST3K/ CT/ RT movies every day and when I wasn’t doing that I was looking at this great site. And thank you Sampo for not taking me seriously, keep up the good work with this cool site. And please forgive me if I offended anyone and I’m glad everyone enjoyed the shows. Maybe you’ll see me at one of the CT shows, I’m easy to spot I’ll have my head up my—– or maybe my foot in my mouth.

Hi Norman, it was a Rifftrax reference to the Welcome Back, Norman short they riffed during the Manos Live show. It’s unriffed on YouTube. But probably shouldn’t say too much more or I will derail the thread and the Captain will be angry. ;-)

Um….Cap’n Hagen, while your work in Sidehackers and Hellcats is truly legendary, I implore you to give our beloved Sampo a break. I think it’s pretty clear that no fan has done more to give back to the MST3K crew. Also, Rifftrax has literally hundreds more new releases than CT so obviously they’re going to get more coverage.

Patrick (#2) wrote exactly what I was going to write: I went to the Saturday 7:30 showing of Doll Squad and haven’t laughed that hard in a really long time.

It was really, really funny and really well done. The movie is awful and surprisingly amoral. You thought the child bride of Manos was in poor taste? In The Doll Squad even the “good guys” are terrible.

It was a surprise to see Trace at the merch table before the show. He was, of course, very nice and very funny.

There is something about the CT crew, and it’s more than just having Joel’s voice in the mix, that brings back a certain flavor of the early seasons of MST3K. I think the difference is that in later MST and Rifftrax, they don’t pretend that watching the movie isn’t a painful experience. Whereas Joel (and maybe other Titans?) loves these old, terrible movies and seems to enjoy them just as much as he enjoys riffing on them.

So #3, 4, 10, 12, and 17 were about last week-ends CINEMATIC TITANIC shows. Thank you for telling us about the shows and not getting all bent about my first post. Gone are the days when CT first started and all the posts were about the show, and the meet and greet and some out there even posted pictures. I miss that, it seems like most of the last few shows never got as many posts and except for 5 on this page the rest is pissing and moaning about what an ass I was. Like when they announced the final tour people got all bent out of shape about Mary Jo and Frank teasing someone about not going to his home state. Rather than thinking how cool it is to know they read these posts and they took the time to play around with someone sort of like what they do with the movies they suffer through.
I can’t wait for the shows here in Ma. I’m going to both and I want to thank them for all the good times I’ve had watching the show, the DVDS and the live shows along with getting stuff signed and being able to talk to Gruber and Mary Jo’s husband as well. Both took the time to talk to me and I felt like I made two cool friends, I know they were just being friendly but it is always my favorite part of the live shows.
So add this to the list of wasted space that has nothing to do with the CT shows last weekend. On the flip side if I didn’t put that stupid post on here it would’ve only been 5 posts about a group that is saying good bye. I only hope the next shows get more people to talk about the shows and post pictures like they use to. As for me I shall tread lightly here and keep my dumb comment’s to my self and not be so angry.

We went to the 730 show on Sat. It was fantastic! It was great to be in a sold out show with so many enthusiastic fans.

One thing I regret – not bringing cash to buy a poster and/or bringing something for them to sign (and ATM there did not work). We didn’t plan to get in the meet and greet line, but we kind of just ended up in it and we were close to the front, so we ran with it. I gushed to everyone, telling everyone how my husband and I met on a fan board (ratmm) 18 years ago. Trace said that made him feel old, but I told him he’s aged better than anyone, and he said I was his favorite..haha. I even told Joel that we named our son after him, and that we hope that doesn’t sound too creepy (he said it didn’t :-P ). I told Josh and Frank that I follow them on Twitter and that I can’t believe Frank has so many haters.

Fortunately my husband was wearing his Tom Servo shirt, and everyone was happy to sign it. Joel told Mary Jo to sign the nipple, but she said she only signs her husband’s nipple. :-)

I’m so glad we went to the show. It was about an hour away for us, but well worth it.
