“Right now, we are looking at a bunch of movies for future projects…”

    Hmmm…. interesting. Great interview.

  2. Tarantulas says:

    Better than most interviews!

  3. Bill Haverchuck says:

Is this an old interview that just got posted recently? I’m surprised he didn’t mention Cinematic Titanic being over after this year when discussing it. Also: that “Right now, we are looking at a bunch of movies for future projects…” sounds VERY interesting…

  4. jaybird3rd says:

I’m not certain, but I think this may be an old interview. His remarks about Andy Kaufman and Frank Zappa ring a bell somehow.

  5. Triple_sSs says:

There was another Joel interview I came across from last month, which I think didn’t get mentioned here for some reason. It’s also a good one.

  6. casimar says:

This is definitely something old that was reposted. I remember the Geraldo interchange, for example. I rarely get such specific deja vu.

  7. Neptune Man says:

“Right now, we are looking at a bunch of movies for future projects…”
Then, why did he canned Cinematic Titanic?

  8. Brandon says:

Wait…. it was Sci Fi Channel’s idea to bring Joel back for that Season 10 guest appearance?

If that’s true…. Thank you SciFi execs!

  9. Captn Ross Hagen says:

I remember the question about Prince, The Replacements and Husker Du was asked before, but I don’t remember when.

  10. Brandon says:

On being asked about a return for MST3K:

“Yeah, it would be really cool to do it again. I think if I got in the position to do it, I’d want to do it with a new cast y’know and give someone else a shot at it? Put in people who were like our age when we started, because I was like 28 when we started, so I’d probably do something like that. But I’m not really the mark holder of, so it’s not really my call.”

Hm, so Joel’s okay with a reboot idea?

  11. Captn Ross Hagen says:

Also think about it, before Joel mentions looking at a bunch of movies for future projects the interviewer was asking about East meets Watts and that was how many movies ago. ????? And I would think that CT ending would have been a big part of a more recent interview. The end is the end friends, sadly.

  12. JCC says:

Joel suggesting a “fresh” young crew for a reboot is very gracious of him, and it surprised me a bit. The furor here and elsewhere would probably be off the charts though. Don’t know why but I think Donald Glover would make for a pretty good host. Off course this will never happen, I’m just blue skying here…

  13. Captn Ross Hagen says:

I loved Donald Glover and Marvin Gibson in those buddy movies Lethal Weapon—–
O U C H !!! My wife just hit me in the head with a frozen chicken. Oh sorry JCC I do not know of this Donald Glover of whom you speak. ?????
Didn’t you give me the light and I just said “NO!” ???

  14. Goshzilla says:

No, that was Malcolm Gibson, silly.

  15. Captn Ross Hagen says:

#14 Goshzilla: That’s right, he had an older brother Henry and a younger sister Debbie.
So Malcolm Gibson was in the middle. BA-BA-BA-BOOM.
I Still love the Goshzilla screen name. Were your parents Godzilla and Goofy?

  16. Goshzilla says:

    GAWRSH! Hyuk.

  17. Captn Ross Hagen says:

#17 Thanks for that. I’m so glad you got me being goofy and didn’t read something dark into my post. Enjoy the weekend I hope you as well as the rest of the people on here have Friday off for a nice long weekend. Like my wife and the rest of the country, I have to work on Friday because I work at a hospital, it’s like people need so much time and attention that are in the hospital. Don’t get me wrong I only bring supplies to 2 departments. Such is life at the hospital in Burlington Ma. Hope all who have the LONG WEEKEND enjoy time with family and friends.

    Thoughts on a reboot:

Guest prisoner on SOL would be a different celebrity/actor/comedian each week. Bots stay as they were.

Mad scientist conducting experiments 1 through 14: Johnny Depp

These are not the names of the films to be riffed, but reference only the episode and guest.

The be(a)st MST3K reboot – the first fourteen:

    ep 1
    “The Puppets Remain The Same”
    guest host: Robert Plant

    ep 2
    “It’s All About Meat”
    guest host: Jim Gaffigan

    “I Was An Octogenarian Werewolf”
    guest host: Hugh Hefner

    “Trust Me, I’m From Hollywood”
    guest host: George Clooney

    “Ottoman Empire”
    guest host: Dick Van Dyke

“The Loudest World In The Galaxy”
    guest host: Gene Simmons

    “Silly String Theory”
    guest host: Jim Parsons

    “Elementary Particles”
    guest host: Benedict Cumberbatch

    “Phasers On Phun”
    guest host: William Shatner

    “The Matrix Recycled”
    guest host: Keanu Reeves

“Something Is Wrong On Saturn 3.2”

  19. Luther Heggs aka Number 6 says:

er… “Stephen King” I meant to type.

  20. Mary Jo Pehl says:
