  1. Stacia @ 49: Riding With Death is owned by Universal. Shout! has an arrangement with them, so you should be seeing that one soon. On the other hand…Being From Another Planet is owned by Roger Corman. You will have to pray VERY hard to get that one.

“Untamed Youth” was high on my “I wish they’d put that one out on DVD” list. So, I’m really happy about that one. To be quite honest, when it was first shown, I didn’t care much for “Pumaman”. But it did grow on me after seeing it several times. Since I knew there was a lot of issues with the hope of ever seeing it on DVD, I’m glad it’s coming out. The other two are good, but to me, nothing all that special. But, it’s still great to have any MST3K episodes on DVD, so I’m happy!

Was Donald Pleasance in any Mysty movies other than Pumaman and
the one with the Paper Chase Guy? Megaweapon! Woo!

Given how many bad guy/cheesy movies (yes, I’m looking at you,
WotLW) it’s nice he had a few interesting/sympathetic roles, perhaps
foremost being The Great Escape. However, even there Hollywood apparently
couldn’t leave DP with much dignity, since in The Great Escape II he seems
to have been cast as a Gestapo Officer! Oy vey! According to ImdB.

@55: Apparently he would take just about any role, due to money issues (multiple divorces, I think).

YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They’re finally putting 805 on disk. Thank goodness as my copy at home is getting worn out. Please tell me Ballyhoo is going to do a doc on this episode. If they do it would make my day. This has been my favorite episode since the first time I saw it. “Hey head-boy, you left a grease stain on the window………..”

  9. A question for anyone from Shout! Factory: Are you allowed to tell us the name of the rights owner of Puma Man? Many of us here would love to know…

As I may have posted before, I don’t want to know how Shout keeps managing to get the rights to these movies and eps. That’d take away the magic of the thing.

@59: It should be on the box when this is released. So we may just have to wait a few months to find out.

  14. I’m excited about Puma Man, but thrilled that Hercules and the Captive Women is finally getting a release – I’d been waiting for that one forever. My favorite of the Hercules films they did.

Kenneth Morgan #61 – There would seem to be some sort of dark magic involved, perhaps Southern Voodoo or something similar to the special move in Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker for the Sega Genesis that made everyone dance with you.

Huh, and here I thought they were just asking for the rights. ;)

  17. I may not bother buying any more of the sets. The instant videos are just more convenient and I don’t have to buy episodes I’m not interested in. I got The Day the Earth Froze, yesterday, and Vampire Women was only $5.99. Shout probably doesn’t like to hear that talk but then streaming ultimately crowding out hard copy media has been a foregone conclusion since before Blu-ray first came out.

Glad to see THE PUMA MAN is going to be on the next set. This is one I maybe saw once if at all and I don’t remember it, so it’ll be like a new movie for me. That’s why I love the new sets, as I’ve said in the past in the deep dark basement of our apartment are boxes with MST VHS tapes that
haven’t seen the light of day since we moved back to MA. from ME. 8 years ago. And some of my tapes are out there somewhere, lent to people that
never gave them back or got packed away to some other dark storage area someplace.

Castle Monster #67 – Actually, I’m sure Shout appreciates the feedback so they can best know how to get MST goodness to us (now I have to go wash the Marketing off of myself). However, I think that having a hardcopy of, well, anything, will always be a popular choice. I have this theory that, no matter how innovative technological advancements are, they will NEVER be able to keep up with expectations and/or desires. I’ve had a DVD player give me problems two or three times in the past 10 years. I’ve had the internet give me two or three problems in the past 10 hours. I remember how frustrating it was when Oregon Trail took 2 minutes to load up and know how frustrating it is now when it takes an MP3 two minutes to download. (Descending from soapbox.)

  23. Giz: Yeah, I guess the cash they get from the instant videos they sell still spends. I notice they hold back some episodes from instant video so that the sets will have more appeal but I reckon they’ll eventually release all of the available eps.

Very excited about HERCULES AND THE CAPTIVE WOMEN. Also excited that Season 1 will be complete on DVD except for one episode now. I have never understood the affection for Puma Man from part of the fan base, just an okay episode for me; it surely must mostly come from latter day fans who didn’t discover the show till its later years on Sci-Fi.

  25. Evil Ash Xero says:

Well, most of my favorite episodes have been released, or are soon to be released (PUMAMAN!).

But seriously…people don’t appreciate Outlaw enough. That should be a Moby Dick episode, if you ask me. Then again, I don’t know if it’s rights are hard to get.

It’s got to be a fan favorite, and hard to get, to be a MB episode.

When MST3K episodes are downloaded as instant videos, are any of the bonus features available as part of the purchase? Or are those only on the DVDs?

  27. A few shows (very few) available in Amazon Instant Video have extras that can be downloaded for the price of a regular episode, or even for free. But I have yet to see any MST3K extras available for download. Maybe someday….

#75 The fact that it’s based on a book may lead to some trouble. Plus the Cannon international stuff is kind of in a pickle rights wise. But I could be wrong.

This is the second set in a row that has the same season break down in a row.

@ #75 I agree, Outlaw is one of my all-time favorite episodes, and am surprised it doesn’t get more love. It goes perfectly with other more popular episodes like Alien from LA and Space Mutiny.
