Lately every time a new set comes out (aside from the 25th anniversary one, because I really wanted that) I tell myself “nah I’m going to pass, I can watch these whenever I want on YouTube”, inevitably about 2 or 3 weeks before release I end up breaking down and placing an order. Really exited for it to come now!
Not surprised that Mr. Pumaman didn’t have a sense of humor about the MST33K version of his movie. . .he apparently doesn’t have much of a sense of humor about anything:

I wonder what it will be like when all feasible episodes are acquired and we hit the Arkoff-Hart barrier at the edge of the known MST3K universe.
I’m hoping Neil Tyson will be covering this at some point in the new COSMOS.
Mysties in the far future will refer to that period of no new MST3K releases as “The Dark Span, when pirating was rampant on the cyber seas.”
Every night, I still pray to whatever gods that be, that, similar to the deluxe Manos set, Shout releases a Green Slime set with a green one-eyed monster stress doll and the legendary Green Slime pilot episode, full movie, and commentary option on the full movie with Robert Horton!
Did Joel, Trace, and Josh actually sit through the whole of The Green Slime for the pilot? I was under the impression that they just recorded the host segments and only a few minutes in-theater to illustrate the concept. Hmm… But then why shoot more than one host segment?
The Green Slime would be perfect for any sort of MST3k reunion show/Rifftrax with alums.
However, it was just released on DVD last year via Warner Archive, so Shout wouldn’t be able to get their hands on it for a release. Its MOD nature probably would make getting the rights for a VOD difficult as well.
This is going to take a lot of gods.
@7 Warner owns Mitchell now, and it was a recent archive release. That didn’t prevent Shout from including it on the anniversary set.

I’m not sure how many segments of the film they used in the pilot pitch. Hopefully several.
Since The Green Slime DVD was released in 2010, maybe Rifftrax has it on their radar and will eventually supply the skewering.
My ultimate wish is getting Horton on record with a commentary. Though the Amazon listing clearly stated there was no bonus material when I purchased the Warner archive remastering of The Green Slime DVD in 2010, I held onto an irrational hope that a Horton commentary existed nonetheless. haha
Maybe it’s just me, but I think an incredible opportunity was passed up. Horton is 89. It’s as if Warner didn’t even try to catch the big fish! Or if they did try, they failed.

Do any of the Archive releases have extras, beyond the occasional trailer?
@11 KidFlash25: to my knowledge the Warner Archive releases are all bare bones, beyond, as you say, the occasional trailer.
There is at least one Warner Archive release (that I own) with a commentary track: the remastered edition of “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark”.

If people keep watching whole movies on YouTube, then that just brings us closer to the dark future in which have to have the mainframe and “scroll up cinemas.”

My local Best Buy ordered NO copies of this release. I found one and only one at the FYE store in Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, Il. Definitely buy these from SHOUT! directly, or Amazon. Best Buy is becoming more outdated by the day.
I’m in the same boat as you Mitchell. Both the Movie Stop and the Best Buy near me in New Jersey didn’t bother ordering it this time. Ordered it on Amazon with free shipping, but that means I’ll be waiting til next week to get me. Oh well, gotta enjoy some bacon dip while I wait.
I just got my new set in the mail, and oh, the bitter irony. The set with a feature about the posters is missing a poster! :( my set didn’t have an Untamed Youth poster in it. Oh well, I guess someone was asleep at the wheel at Shout! Factory. Good thing I only really care about the discs…
Just noticed a common thread between two of the movies in this set. “Thing” of course features several pieces of music shared among Universal pictures of this period, including the three-note sting originally written for “Creature From The Black Lagoon”. Turns out this sting was also stolen by the producers (or dubbers?) of the “Hercules” flick , where it appears a few times.
And Thing and Pumaman both have plots about hypnosis!
