30 minutes of new footage? Hmm… may have to rethink this strategy of buying VODs on day one of their release.

You mean I’m going to end up having the Rifftrax version of the restored Manos before I get the actual version of the restored Manos promised me when I donated to the Kickstarter? Dang.

Outtakes?!!! Manos had 30 minutes of outtakes?! What could possibly have been so bad that it wasn’t kept in the movie? Do I really want to know?

I got the VOD and now I’m thinking about getting the DVD just for the outtakes! Oh cruel fate! I need to eat but I also need to see those outtakes. It’s quite the dilemma. :-?

I hope all 30 minutes are of the husband and wife staring in horror at the painting. I can never get enough of that.

Yeah, that was my reaction too…But even more bitter since I just bought the Manos VOD last week.

I’d like to see someone post about what the 30 minutes of extra footage is before I pony up for the DVD.

Here’s a sample of the extra footage. It’s 30 minutes of this with the guys commenting and talking about their experience with the movie.

@ 13: Rifftrax just posted a preview. Looks like behind-the-scenes footage with commentary (not riffing) by Mike, Kaven and Bill.

#6: This will be my third copy of Manos. One is in the MST3K Essentials, and the other is through Mill Creek Entertainment’s “Best of the Worst” set. Yeah, I own this unriffed, even though I haven’t yet attempted watched it. I’m either really a glutton for punishment or really sadistic; I haven’t figured out which yet. ;)
Interesting Manos related story: not too long ago I overheard a conversation about a bad movie I thought sounded familiar. Knowing I was something of a bad movie fan, they asked if I was familiar with it. “Manos?” Indeed it was Manos. A mom randomly bought a copy in a bargain bin at the store and watched it with her son. The son was so amused he later went on to watch even more bargain bin movies. They haven’t seen MST3K or Rifftrax apparently, but who knows? Maybe I can make some new converts.

@11 That reminds me of that piano musical cue that plays throughout the movie, whenever something “significant” is discovered by our “heroes”. To me it’s become even more terrifying than the classic, haunting Torgo Theme.

“I’m thinking of having that tattooed on my face, dearest.” How did they come up with that riff? LOVE MST3k!

@16 I have the Shout double disc release, which has riffed and unriffed versions, so that makes two Manos copies for me.

I’m sure I will end up with a third Manos, since I would like to own the MST3K episode of “Santa Clause Conquers The Martians” on disc. As I understand it, it is only available on the Essentials collection DVD.

It would be nice if Shout released “–Martians” as a bonus the way they did with Mitchell and The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.

I hate to recommend you add yet more Manos to your collection, but you should consider purchasing the Shout 2DVD version. The bonus material is worth it.

And the Manos mini poster by Vance is a very welcomed extra.

I used to not care about the posters. Now I am addicted to them, as witnessed by my withdrawal symptoms when we didn’t receive mini posters for Mitchell and The Brain…

Is it weird that I will own more copies of Manos than any other movie? I have the disk from the essentials, the Shout 2 disk set, the original, now this and am going to buy the Blu-ray when it comes out.

Honestly, I’d rather see the behind-scene footage with the people involved in making the movie commenting on it than Mike, Kevin, and Bill.

    @20

When you say “original” I am assuming you mean the Rhino single disc version? Or do you mean an unMSTIED version?

If you mean the Rhino, are there any extra features on it that are not on the Shout 2DVD or Essentials disc?

According to the Amazon listing there is a 30 min “Poopie blooper reel” and a collectible postcard with the Rhino single disc. Was wondering if you could verify that.

It would be weird to end up with four Manos, assuming I chose to get the Essentials and Rhino single.

Weird, but then again, why stop now?

“Could this be the end my friend? Manos comin’ ’round the bend… Puppets runnin’ cause they’re scared….”

(I’m on the fence about buying the RiffTrax version, though it seems well received.)

#22: The Rifftrax reriff of Manos is well worth it just for the short “Welcome Back, Norman” alone. They do great work with the movie too. In all honesty I’d say this may be the finest live show they’ve offered yet. I’d recommend it.

Turns out I was wrong and this print was from the Restoration, just not the actual restored print.

Looks like someone’s posted the raw outtakes without any commentary attached. Silent, but interesting!
