Weekend Discussion Thread: Your Unhappy Meal

Okay, I hope this one doesn’t get too gross. Alert regular Tim suggests:

I was watching “The Day the Earth Froze” and thought of what would your unhappy meal be. Mine would include:
1: A maze that you must get the famous English musician into the Dakota;
2: A used Kleenex

Okay, mine would be:
Day-old sushi with a cigarette snuffed out in it; and
The Wacky Hairball Game.

Have at it, and let’s not get too yucky.

  1. 1) A 1993 Archie McPhee catalog with someone’s handwriting on every page. An individual obviously obsessed with the punching nun puppet.

    2) A half-built Moebius brand 1/4105 Scale Model of the Galactica from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica television series.

A longtime BG fan in the past who had the good fortune to meet Mr. Greene had him autograph a Big Boy’s Restaurant menu.

    It’s included with the model.

In black marker: “Eat your heart out, Basehart! Ha ha ha ha!- Lorne”

The other half of the Galactica – the loose pieces that are still present – have had an entire tube of model glue dripped all over them, forming a multi-tiered polystyrene amoeba. Clearly a sign of fan meltdown.

    3) A malformed KTMA beer koozie™.

If you try to put a canned cold beverage in it, it WILL rip down the side.

It says KTMA on the side in garish yellow letters and has a picture of a TV antenna tower emitting broadcast wave circles. (A total RKO logo ripoff.)

The foam body is bluish green. No rips.

    Yet.

But it is malformed, as aforementioned.

A very, very unhappy meal. Well, except for Greene taunting Basehart on a Big Boy’s menu. That’s pretty cool.

Want a real life Unhappy Meal? The Asian fast food chain Lotteria once featured a Chocolate and Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken Burger as a Valentine’s Day special. While I’m willing to try a lot of oddball concoctions, combining chocolate and honey mustard is just too gross to contemplate.
