Linda Griffiths, RIP

linda-griffiths-lg TORONTO–Actor and playwright Linda Griffiths died Sept. 21, at the Bridgeport Health Center here, after a battle with breast cancer. She said she was 57, but those close to her says she was actually 60. MSTies will remember her performance as Appollonia James in the movie in episode 822- OVERDRAWN AT THE MEMORY BANK.

The Globe and Mail has an obit.

Thanks to Jon for the heads up.

Wow. That’s very sad… 57/60 is too young.

Terribly sad. I just watched Overdrawn last night, too.

Reading her obit, it’s obvious “Overdrawn” was the low point of her career. I have found myself thinking “Oh, no!” far too often lately when I bring up the Satellite News site. RIP

RIP, Linda. She was easily the best actor in Overdrawn (I bet Raul would agree with me). Condolences to family, friends and fans.

I thought her and Raul were good actors, but suffered from a bad script and recording on tape.

RIP, you were a darn good Venus.

Oh my, 57 or 60 are both far too young. RIP to Ms. Griffiths, and thanks for your work in “Overdrawn”.

It’s a shame Overdrawn couldn’t be mentioned in her obit, at least that it appeared on MST3K and she has this whole big other fan based because of it. We love her in it.

    RIP Appallonia

We do love you Linda! So sorry you had to go. All these people make such and impact on us just by being in these bad movies that make us laugh. RIP.

I emailed her a few years ago and got an autographed picture of her. I was too scared to ask if I could send her my MST3K boxset to her to sign :-\ But she was super cordial and really rocked it with her theatre.

So sad. It sounds like she extremely had an extremely distinguished career in Canadian theater.

As with Raul, she was much better than the turd known as “Overdrawn At The Memory Bank”.

Wow, I was just on her website not that long ago. She was a powerhouse playwright in her native Canada, and an underrated actress in one of my favorite Mst episodes. Rest in Peace.

RIP. I’m sure Fingol’s mom had a nice bowl of chicken soup
for her when she got through the Pearly Gates.

Sounds like a really cool and interesting woman. Anybody who hasn’t seen Lianna really should check it out; she’s fantastic in it. Heck, the fact that she made it through Overdrawn… without embarrassing herself says something by itself.

    RIP

I’m sure Raul greeted her with “Pleased to meet you, Miss James” when she got up to heaven. I can just imagine him doing that.

Oh no. :( It looks like she had a good life. I own the un-MST’d Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. I’ve seen the movie Lianna as well. She was good in both movies. RIP.

She looks so much better without the 80’s/90’s hair. Can’t even tell she’s probably got 20 more years on her in this photo compared to Overdrawn.

I know this is silly and peripheral but I am getting a strong Mary Jo vibe from her picture. Anyone else see it?
