Maybe I’m not supposed to post this but Deep Discount has had Vol. 14 available for weeks and for quite a bit less than Amazon…

This will actually be the first of the sets I won’t be getting, simply because I already have really good copies of each already on DVD.

I like what Shout! Factory is doing with the Special Features and after having a chance to speak with some of their people at ComicCon last year, I can tell they’re really looking at this show – and the Sets they’ll release – just like fans. You can tell they love the show as much as we do.

    Good episodes, too.

  5. The Bolem says:

Yeah, looking back at previous Volume XIV updates, there was no mention of any different special edition with a tin like last time.
Sorry to be fussy, but I for one ain’t preorderin’ bupkuss until Shout! says for sure whether or not such a thing will exist. Are we only getting tin editions for the set released latest in the year as a Chris-er-Nondenominationalholiday gift? That’d still be OK…BUT I NEED TO KNOWWWWWWWWWWWW…

Normally Id order from Amazon, but the price was high, I thought about waiting and changed my mind about that. I thought about Overstock.com but I didnt like their shipping rates. I thought about CD Universe and wound up ordering on from highdefdvd.com who had it for 35.00 or something like that. Hope it wont be a disaster. I do like Amazon, but a 20.00 difference this time had me ordering somewhere else and hope they are as good as Amazon.

Psst – post title says 4 (IV), not 14 (XIV). XD

‘nother one to add to the collection, alright! The extras seemed pretty gnarly too. Excited~!

All you cheapskates need to support satellite news and order from amazon.

I’m assuming that Amazon will lower their price, and get to around 30% off. If you preorder now, they automatically give you the lowest price between now and release, so I went ahead and supported the site by ordering through the link.

    Re: #9
Tim, I agree wholeheartedly! Satellite News is our best source of information for all things MST3K, and we need to support them! I like saving money as much as the next person, but it’ll wind up being $7 or $8 saved at best – I’d rather help Sampo and Erhardt.

    Long live Satellite News!!!

I agree. We should support this site. Where else are we going to go for 20 questions to Joel every ten years? :-) I clicked through and ordered mine!

Done and done. While it might be a bit pricey, I’m more than willing to fork over the cash for a pristine copy of “Soultaker”!

Yes, I want to support Satellite News, but do we know for sure there won’t be a deluxe edition!?!?

I’m all for supporting the site, but is there a way we could just paypal some money to them? I’d rather spend $40 for on the DVD and send $2 to them than spend $50 on the DVD and have $2 go to them.

I watched “Manhunt in Space” again last night.

How they were able to stay away from Winky’s whole “gay nightlife” comments, I’ll never know.

I too shall pre-order and I can’t wait. I’ve seen “Soultaker” and “Final Justice” and I’ve heard only good things about the others. Oh boy, Oh boy!

Just one thing, though. On the 20th anniversary set, I didn’t see any scene selections. I like that feature on a DVD. Shouldn’t they have been there? And will they be on future sets?

Please enlighten me. I’m a babe in the woods when it comes to videos. :?:

Just a thought, but I pre-ordered the 20th aniv. set from Amazon, and by the time it shipped, Amazon had dropped the price to be inline with the other sellers. Of course, it shipped at the cheaper price.

Amazon is great about bringing their prices in line by release date. No worries here.

I can’t wait for a high quality version of Soultaker. I bet that Martin Sheen’s less successful, more talented brother has never looked better.

  24. The Bolem says:

So, there is no deluxe version, I guess? It’d be listed on Shout!’s site by now if such a thing were ever to exist, right?

Sorry to be a broken record, but I have to either procrastinate and compare prices forever before I preorder, or jump on it on brick-and-mortar release day at Best Buy or Borders.

As with the last 6 volumes, I’ve seen the SciFi, but the CC’s new to me. Looking forward to finally seeing the blender sketch in context, establishing Tom as dating only fellow machines, while Crow has the Fleshling Fever (like Skids).

Wonder how long it’ll be before official word of Vol. XV? I’m guessing “The Corpse Vanishes” and “Crash of the Moons” for Joel, and HOPING for “Santa Claus” and “Invasion of the Neptune Men” for Mike, not having seen any other wild speculation.

dvdpacific.com has it for the cheapest I’ve seen. It’s for pre-order there at $37.62. I like Satellite News as much as the next guy, but that’s like $16 savings. I can buy more MST3k if it’s cheaper and that’s what I care about.

And I’d like to see “Puma Man” in a future release, though “Santa” and “Neptune” are great eps.

  26. MikeK says:

Does anyone else wish the Soultaker DVD also had an interview with Robert Z’Dar?

  27. The Bolem says:

Well, naturally I’d prefer THE PUMAMAN too, but my Mike era wishes were also ones that the “Likelyhood for DVD release” thread listed as “extremely likely”. Of the 8 experiments from Shout! thus far, I believe only First Spaceship on Venus didn’t fit into that category, so I consider the guy who did all the homework for that thread reliable enough to keep my wants grounded in reality.

I really, really want Neptune men though. I feel bad for anyone who’s just seen Prince of Space and not been able to wash it down with its even worse immitation shortly thereafter. It’s been released on the same DVD as POS by Dark Sky which should make it a shoe-in, but IOTNM also had Toei pop up in its credits. As many anime fans can tell you, they occasionally exhibit incomprehensible behavior when it comes to what they allow on DVD in the States. They’ve produced dozens of classic cartoon series, but Sailor Moon fans consider Toei a four-letter word, in many ways.

  28. “Neptune” is wonderful — I’m glad I have a broadcast quality DVD of it (then again, that’s true of just about every MST3K episode — but this set thrills me in that “Manhunt” is one of the very few my DVD isn’t absolutely perfect).

So I don’t want to hear anyone else complaining — I’m spending $50 for essentially one episode .

Not to be a whiny preachy type, but ya’ll do realize that you’ll get free shipping with Amazon, right? Seriously, your $$ savings will in actuality be minimal. Plus, as pointed out by several alert posters, Amazon always lowers its price to the lowest prevailing price by the time the discs actually ship. Oh well – a penny-pincher will always be a penny-pincher. I just can’t imagine $8 making or breaking my life.

However, Mike Kelley – YOU are a psychopath!!!

For Mike my preferential choices would be:
    Pumaman
    Invasion of the Neptune Men
    The Final Sacrifice
    Jack Frost
The Beast of Yucca Flats (worth it for the Puerto Rico short alone)

    For Joel:
The Magic Sword (my virgin MST experience in ’93)
    Anything season 3

Now if I can just get someone to do something about it!

I’ve been unemployed for two months now (definitely not by choice), but I will find a way to buy this release! The 20AE was good, but this volume will be a step up from that (with or without figurines).

Happy to support the site, and pre-orders almost ALWAYS drop in price with Amazon.

    Let the waiting…begin!!

I, too, would love to have “Santa Claus,” “Invasion Of The Neptune Men,” and “Pumaman” pop up soon.
