Pluto TV CEO Tom Ryan: “Mystery Science Theater 3000 ran for 11 years and has an extremely loyal fan base. Pluto TV is all about giving viewers what they want, and fans have been asking for MST3K for a while, so we’re happy to make these classic episodes available to them. Niiiiice. I’ve always dreamed of an Mst3k channel, and while I do have every episode available on my computer, there’s a certain charm to being at the mercy of random EPs. Fun!

If ALL 141 DVD Eps are in play and each show is 1.5 hours, it takes 8 days and 19.5 hours to watch all of them if they run 24/7. That being said, why has “Herc v. Moonmen” been on twice in the last 12 hours?

I think it would be cool to have some neat scheduling, like “Mike Mondays”, “Sunday Shorts”, “Mstie Primetime” with two back-to-back Eps that are highly rated, etc.

All in all, I LOVE this move!

Honestly, did anyone believe that this long after the show was off-air that we would have an Mst3k Channel and still celebrate Turkey Day with Joel? Amazing.

Great to leave on in the background all the time.

What I find interesting about these streaming sites (vimeo, shout, now pluto) running episodes of MST is that it is very similar to the fledgling Comedy Channel scambling for shows to fill their time slots. Now that cable TV is slowly going away and streaming channels via the internet is the new norm, all these channels see the benefit of a long comedy show featuring inexpensive, sometimes public domain films. Very cool that it is living on for future generations to discover.

    Neat.

Hopefully not for long. I would need it for XBox 360, as well.

I also look forward to the return of MST Midnights. It’ll be great to pass out to! Maybe they’ll mix in some MST Hour wraps, or intros or whatnot…

It’s too early to write cable tv’s obit just yet. Not everybody lives where there’s high speed internet. ;)

Been doing this for years. I have ripped all the DVDs to hard drive, have a cheap PC connected to my home entertainment system, created a random playlist with Media Player Classic, and MST3K 24/7:)

Don’t need high-speed, anything good enough for YouTube or Netflix (the “average” 3.5mb most people have) will do ya for just about any streaming television-replacement service.
Even cable has now found our preoccupation with “binge watching” an entire series in front of us a good excuse to show three or four episodes of the same show in a row, and therefore not have to make too many new ones or syndicate other movies or reruns. It’s running behind streaming and trying to catch up, but is still stuck in that long-ago world where they used to show shows at…like…a certain time.

And Pluto’s lineup doesn’t seem to be network-scheduled either, just a selected daily airline-music loop of running Shout Factory programs that viewers can tap into at any time.
Which is the one thing I know I’ve missed about the death of TV, to be able to just tune in and take pot luck. :)

I will not be happy until all MST3K episodes are streaming straight into every car in America. Screw OnStar.

    We need DarkStar car service.

Sampo, it’s also airing on PBS! At least, in the Atlanta area. PBA Channel 30 airs MST3K Saturdays at 11:00 PM EST. Last week’s was Gunslinger. I think this week’s is gonna be Manos. (Those are the two eps that have been used in the ads for the show so far).

Car: “DarkStar. What is your emergency?”
Me: “I’m on a road trip and my DVD player battery died. I need MST3K now!”
Car: “I’m going to send you the entire MST3K Peter Graves catalog.”
Me: “Thank you. Could you please call my family and tell them I’m going to be okay?”
