Episodes Everywhere

There are two new episodes of MST3K streaming exclusively on Shout! Factory TV starting today, episode 412- HERCULES AND THE CAPTIVE WOMEN and 111- MOON ZERO TWO.

Meanwhile, at RiffTrax, it was MST3K Monday yesterday, and that meant the release of episode 1005- BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z. The previous week it was 415- THE BEATNIKS (with short: GENERAL HOSPITAL PT 2).

Plus, Film Crew February concluded with “Hollywood After Dark.”

And, he was never in a MSTed movie (or mentioned during a host segment, as far as I can tell) but we wanted to note the passing of the great George Kennedy, best known for “Cool Hand Luke,” the “Airport” movies and the “Naked Gun” movies.

I scoured the website looking for George Kennedy today as well. I can’t believe he wasn’t in a movie somewhere along the way. Not even SST Death Flight. In addition to the above I remember him well as Carter McKay from the later years of Dallas. RIP.

I know many people have disdain for RiffTrax, but George Kennedy is in Nightmare at Noon, available at Hulu.

“‘Rifftrax’??? … Slooowly I turned – step by step – inch by inch – and I beat it and I hit it and I gave it such a whacking ….Oh. I’m, I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Uh, are you okay?”

“Yeah, I guess. Wow. You know, cause I always thought it was pretty popular.”

    “Popular? What was?”

    “Riffrax.”

    “‘RIFFTRAX’!!! Sloowly I turned …”

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to start any problems about the opinion of RiffTrax. I personally love their work, but I’ve read enough comment threads around here to know there are people who don’t – and take every opportunity to let you know why.

Yes, I can certainly understand why fans of MST3K would dislike a riffing series featuring the stars and writers of MST3….hey!!!!!!

I’ll just jump in to say that this is the first time I have posted in the thread so far. Nope, sorry, guys. You managed this one by yourselves. :-D

Also, I seem to remember there was a George Kennedy reference when we saw an airplane, but I’m blanking on what the episode or riff was–Might have been Joel-era Rocket Attack USA, as I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Skydivers, and I know for a fact it wasn’t San Francisco International.

Actually, the “We’re so desperate after the show went off the air, we’ll watch ANY crap MK&B put their name on for a lazy mean-spirited buck, and rewrite the show history to praise them for creating the heavens and the earth!” is the reason whatever anti-RT purists hate it, but more at the fandom than the riffing. Okay, half and half. Forty-sixty.

Which is one reason there’s the pumped excitement about Joel getting so involved with the Kickstarter Show, and hoping Jonah can keep the show back to formula. Now, like CT vs. RT, there’ll be competing brands again with one brand closer to the original creators of the show, some comparison to illustrate the React. vs. Punish riffing doctrines, and, like they say on those annoying Hulu exercise ads, “Guess what?–You’re out of excuses!”

If you dislike Rifftrax, why do you bother to post here?

Hang out at the MST3K reboot boards, instead.

Take up a hobby. Go get some exercise. You’ll feel better.

So will the rest of us here.

Every time this rather Freudian quote pops up from the current fans, it reminds me why I HAVE to.

I don’t know why you want to spend time here as a troll. You can just support the MST3K reboot in those posts. You don’t *have* to post here.

By the way, I’ve been a fan of MST3K since 1993. I’ve been reading Satellite News since its inception.

You’re the only negative person here.

Check the author of most (if not all) of those posts, and I think you’ll find it’s the same person obsessive-compulsively posting the same rant over and over, albeit using slight variations on the theme. It wouldn’t be the same here without him though, bless his little bile-filled heart!

The problem is that many people just read the comments here without looking to see the name of the person making them. There really is only one particular commenter here that hates Rifftrax that I am aware of. The thing is that it posts so often that it comes off seeming like lots of people hate Rifftrax, when in fact it is only that one particular commenter posting multiple times on every thread.

Yes, it would be a much more pleasant place.

The George Kennedy reference you’re trying to remember is in Monster A-Go-Go when the guy from Washington gets off the plane. I just happened to be watching it last night, and it caught my attention.

I believe it was The Lost Continent.
