YESSSSS!!! Finally, “Riding With Death” on DVD!!! My life is complete. We’ve been waiting for “Stranded in Space” and “Melting Man” for a long time, too, and “City Limits” will be like a new episode for me as I’ve never seen the whole thing.

    Thank you, Shout Factory!

I knew they was going to eventually do the incredible melting man since shout put that on blu ray a couple of years ago. I know allot fans like myself wanted riding with death for along time. I guess shout finally made a deal with the guy who owned city limits. I wonder if they are to have kim catrell do an interview as an extra. That now leaves escape 2000 as the last of season 7 and that leaves only the susan hart two movies are the last of season 3.

Honestly, if you were introducing someone to the show for the first time, this might be the best set to use.

Every one of these is essential, making for the best set in years. Only a turkey would disagree.

Great set ! Once I heard City Limits might be an MGM title, I was like this could be getting an MST release. Melting Man was a matter of time, as were the other two. Its great to see Stranded In Space make the cut this time !

We are now down to the final twenty two episodes.. unreal !

Shout Factory is fortunate. I and my simian minions were on the verge of world domination in response to their consistent and unmellow failure to release “Riding With Death”. Congratulations, Shout Factory… you just bought your weak, pale, hairless and inferior descendants of our mighty race more time. :monkey: :poop:

I knew when we started seeing eps like “Revenge of the Creature” and “Leech Woman” that it was only a matter of time before Riding with Death would get it’s long-awaited DVD release.

Now we get that classic, plus Melting Man AND City Limits? That’s three, count ’em, three episodes I’ve been waiting and waiting to see released. “Stranded in Space”? I could learn to like it.

    In short:

DYNAMITE! This here set packs sheer DYNAMITE, WAH-HOO!

That was a great volume of episodes, man. This is a pretty mellow top-secret operation, nobody’s gettin’ uptight, everything’s cool. No baggage or hang-ups. I’m just gonna hang in there, baby, you bet your sweet bippy. I’ll do my thing, they’ll do theirs. Just gotta keep mellow, that’s what being Ben Murphy’s all about. And I’m Ben Murphy.

It’s okay but I’m not real excited (for one thing, we JUST got through watching “Riding with Death” in our ordered rotation, and won’t come around to any of these for many, many months, if not years).

But I’ll pick it up as I always do (I have excellent copies of all MST3K episodes but I like to support Shout. Here’s hoping they get to some season 9/10 episodes next time, before I watch all of THEM again).

I’d like to add my name to the petition to nab Kim Cattrall for an interview. Didn’t she do an MST convention once? Also – James Earl Jones, if possible. City Limits is a definite fave of mine.

And after over four years with no Season 7 releases, we suddenly get two sets in a row with one! Here’s hoping 37 has Escape 2000 on it!

I’ll be honest, I’m not as crazy about Riding with Death as other fans seem to be; It’s a fine episode but I just don’t find it THAT funny for some reason, there’s some other reservations I have with it too. But nevertheless, this looks like another great set. Looking forward to seeing Incredible Melting Man for the first time.

What, the fact that it just rotates three jokes over and over again for two hours, RT style? (“I’m so Ben Murphy, I’m going to mellow out and vote for Jimmy Carter!”)

    Tarlcabot:
Looks like they finally nailed down who City Limits belongs to.

Or, they’ve given up FVI for missing/absconded, and the titles have sunk back into public domain again–Two on one set is a good sign, and looks like Being From Another Planet on Set XXXV wasn’t just a fluke.
That leaves only the two ex-PD Godzillas, and those we do know have owners.

Actually yeah, that’s one of the biggest issues I have with it. I found most of those running jokes more annoying than funny somehow. Usually I enjoy running jokes a lot but in RWD, it just didn’t work for me.

Plus I’m not as interested in the episodes that cut together TV shows as “movies”. (Time of the Apes being a large exception however) Being the movie geek I am, I personally get more satisfaction from riffing a legit bad movie that people may have actually paid money to see at some point. :P

Woo Hoo! Best set since….well….one year ago with the release of Volume XXXII. Now I’ll be able to make my dream set of Godzilla vs. Megalon, Hercules, Riding With Death, and Pumaman. I’m gonna need some Steve Vance poster art for Megalon, though.
    8-)
I gotta get a move on, so let me just extend my hand for a good old fashioned, Ben Murphy style “fade away jerk” hand shake.

I actually dimly remember the series being on NBC Monday nights, and being the toddling 70’s tad I was, thinking the concept was sort of neat. (But not as neat as Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman.)
I’ve sort of wanted to watch the episode again for that reason, but…..thinking back on what I can remember from watching the episode the first time, I think I can understand why everyone else on the board seems to rail at me for hearing the exact same things over and over and over and over, as if the teller thought they were funny the first time.

I guess I’m in the minority on this set. Other than Melting man one of my favorite episodes, this is a weak set. Stranded is one of the most boring movies ever made, Riding with Death is bad even for a made for TV movie and City Limits is on my list of the bottom 5 movies they ever did.

Y’know……That’s not a bad idea, that that. :)
For those of us who had to (ahemcough) “replace” the Megalon disk in our Vol. 10.0 set, the discarded extra disk might be lying around in blank DVD cases (not saying it would, of course), and Toho wouldn’t have any objection to just a jacket of what would essentially be fan art?
Or would that just send out the terrible image that some irresponsible fans might not have thrown out their disks as instructed?

Sulu: I’m picking up the Susan Hart Barrier, Captain. She’s dead ahead.

Kirk: Slow to impulse power, Mr. Sulu.

    (pause)

    Kirk: Arm phasers.

Sulu: Aye, aye, Captain. Phasers armed and ready.

Spock: Sensors picking up extremely high levels of resistance to our scans. Irregular, but fascinating.

(ship shudders violently to a halt)

    Kirk: Steady, Mr. Sulu. Steady.

    over the com:

Scotty: Captain, we’re stuck like a potato in a garbage disposal! An irresistible force has us in its clutches!

Kirk: Mr. Spock, begin self destruct sequence.

    (pause)

Kirk: We’re going to take the bitch down with us.

(startled look from Mr. Shout, er, from Mr. Spock)

Wow! City Limits was DEFINITELY a surprise! I’m guessing the right’s holder is probably MGM, but we’ll find out soon enough. I’m glad to see Stranded in Space finally saw the light of day – we all thought CBS were the rights holders to that movie. :P Incredible Melting Man is a good episode, and Riding With Death I haven’t seen yet, but I look forward to it. Keep up the great work, Shout! Here’s hoping you’ll manage to find the rights holders for Human Duplicators.

Some of those Universal tv series movie edits were released theatrically overseas. And we all know Agent For H.A.R.M was a unsold tv pilot inflicted on paying customers. ;)

And I hope they do a interview with Mr. Murphy!

I’d love to see an interview with Ben Murphy. He has aged VERY well, and shows that you don’t have to go the plastic surgery route.

As to why I like Riding with Death so much, I think it’s because it’s a perfect microcosm of the mid 1970s — the blandness, the attempted coolness, the clothes, the hair, that *#$@&* CB radio fad.
