2016: In Memoriam

With the news of Carrie Fisher (not a MSTory person but we do send out our heartfelt sadness to her family) in the headlines, we present our annual “in memoriam” video.

One note: you may want to have your finger on the pause button. Some of the ID cards are, necessarily, a little long. Also, I am NOT real good at this and I openly admit it. Please cut me a little slack…

    Very good, very tasteful.

TCM has already had to update their annual “TCM Remembers” montage twice in the last two weeks. Let’s hope you won’t have to do the same.

The most important death this year: any semblance of decency in US politics.

God damn this year to hell.

BTW, should George Michael’s passing be added to the list? I seem to recall the bots discussing one of his songs in a host segment, but I don’t remember which movie it was.

Really gives a face to all those sadly passing this year. It’s good to remember them and appreciate that they gave their efforts behind or in front of the camera, good or bad, for us to have MST at all. RIP, indeed. And thanks so very much for your work here, very much appreciated. mt 12/16

You are correct. They did discuss WHAM in a host segment. Don’t remember which movie, but in the poopie tape Crow botches the title of “wake me up before you go-go”.

You’ll be seeing some of them in the Oscar’s memorium.
Wonder if Carrie Fisher will be last.

And a strong second to Lee’s comment in #7.

Well done, thank you. TCM’s tribute was pretty good this year although the song, eh. Can’t beat the song “In the Embers” that they used for their 2013 tribute.

    Another ditto to #7’s comment.

I see the majority of them lived to be in their 80’s and 90’s. No comment, just an observation.

    (looks at death)

Now can’t you two see that you are in love with each other?!

    Today’s Silliest Homage – Cinnabon

I suspect that if Carrie Fisher could comment on this she would laugh, roll her eyes, and crack a dirty joke.

Well done video… thank you. I hadn’t heard of James Victor’s death (“Joey the pusher” in “The Girl in Gold Boots”)…All I could think of was the riff when he first appeared on screen…”Arafat in the Sixties!” RIP all

    Aww, that’s sad.

After personally losing three loved ones so far this year, I’ve kind of had my fill of death.

Researchers in Sweden have recorded sounds that seem to be created by the interaction of the aurora borealis and things like power lines and pointed objects such as pine needles. It has been suggested that they be named “Carrie’s Crackles” in honor of Carrie Fisher. A recording can be heard on the SpaceWeather.com website.
