Weekend Discussion Thread: Bright Spots in Bad Movies

Alert regular MSTie suggests:

We’ve covered good acting performances in bad MST movies, but how about “Non-Acting Bright Spots in Otherwise Horrible Movies”? It could be particularly beautiful scenery, a surprisingly well-done camera shot, music, good special effects, etc.
I thought of this the other night when watching “The Sky Divers.” When the dancing starts at the party, the first girl is an AWESOME dancer. She’s the one in the striped top wearing a wide headband in her hair, and she’s really got those 1960s dance moves down.
And continuing in a Coleman Francis mode, two words to say about “The Beast of Yucca Flats” — the bunny.

Two words: The Platters.

Your pick?

That big pneumatic blond gal from Horror of Spider Island was … interesting.

I’d like to see Babs Vs. “Tom Boerwinkel” from The Skydivers…It’d be like the Andre The Giant Vs. Big John Studd of Big Blonde Boobs. Russ Meyer missed out on those two ladies.

i’ve been jazzed (pardon!) to hear many others also liking the music soundtracks as their “bright spots” – same here! i wonder how many of you have tried to collect the soundtracks of various features on the mst roster? whattaya got?

like others have mentioned, yeah i’ve got that manos soundtrack that (last i knew) was available online – dig the mellower parts of it; get a cackle out of the other parts, especially when the clarinetist strains to hit those high notes and -just… can’t… quite… make it!-

others i’d like to find and get someday… “moon zero two;” dig that hinky kinda sixties-to-seventies ag-jazz… i once noted here long ago that ‘future sound of london’ used a few brief bits of samples from that soundtrack on one of their albums (pulls up my itunes to find it… “quagmire” from “dead cities” is the track…)

and, i’d love to get a soundtrack for “eegah!” someday, lol! (don’t hurt me!) arch jr’s “vicki” reminds me of tracks like “sleepwalking” and the like of that era.

You can get a CD of Arch Hall, Jr. on Amazon, which includes tracks from Eegah.
