I’m sure someone has already said this, or something like it. I love the music during the “commercial breaks”. It took me awhile to realize it is jazzed up versions of old MST tunes. Eventually, someone will make a list of what they are in each episode, right? Right? Thank you, won’t you?

    Okay, so just to review:

    1101- Reptilicus
    1102- Cry Wilderness
    1103- The Time Travelers
    1104- Avalanche
1105- The Beast of Hollow Mountain
    1106- Starcrash
1107- The Land That Time Forgot
    1108- The Loves of Hercules
1109- Yongary – Monster from the Deep
1110- Wizards of the Lost Kingdom
1111- Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II
    1112- Carnival Magic
1113- The Christmas That Almost Wasn’t
    1114- At Earth’s Core

If we go with the standard “There were 197 episodes before now (not including the pilot “The Green Slime”)” then Episode 1103: “The Time Travelers” is the 200th episode.

The “number of movies riffed” is a bit harder to figure: First of all, I include “The Green Slime”, but then subtract the KTMA era episodes that were redone in Season 3. So that’s 189 movies riffed before the current Netflix season.

So then add on the new 14 episodes, and you see that we are up to “203 movies riffed” to date. With “Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II” being the 200th movie riffed. If you don’t include “The Green Slime” then the 200th movie riffed is “Carnival Magic”.

Just something I pondered on a sleepy afternoon…

Did you include This Island Earth (MST3K: The Movie)?

What about the shorts? Do those count as separate movies?

What about the Stranger Things promo? Does that count?

How about the live shows done in the 90’s (World Without End in 1992, This Island Earth in 1995)?

Bronyficent: What about the shorts? Do those count as separate movies?

IMO, there should be a separate number for shorts, since they’re generally padding out the main experiment/feature, time-wise. (Even if they overshadow the movie, mindspace-wise.) (Now, if they had done an episode of just shorts, then oh, man, I don’t know how to categorize that, which is a serious flaw in my methodology. Also my choices in life.) That being said, it’s trickier when you consider the serials. I mean, okay, they only did two Undersea Kingdom chapters, so that’s two shorts, but they did most of RADAR Men from the Moon, and my brain hurts just thinking about it. And while I would consider “Hired!” to be two shorts, I can see the logic behind treating it as one. And so on.

Anyway. I can see “movies riffed” being a different number from “experiments” to account for the ones riffed twice, and then “episodes” is “experiments” minus This Island Earth, and then the live shows, Progress Island, and so on are in their own category? Like, if the comic book series or CD-ROM had happened, they wouldn’t be counted as episodes, right?

This is the kind of thing where we probably won’t get a real consensus, but if you explain the methodologies, you should get some nodding acceptance as to the logic. FWIW, it’d be nice for the Stranger Things promo and the other publicity videos (or the Sci-Fi specials) to be logged somewhere, even if they don’t “count” as experiments.

No to “Stranger Things” and the promo stuff they did back during the Sci-Fi years. No to the live shows done in the 90’s (maybe if they had properly recorded those and broadcast them later, or officially released them on VHS/DVD…

The shorts are not cataloged separately, they’re part of that week’s experiment (aka episode).

Yes, good catch on “MST3K: The Movie” – I would count “This Island Earth”, which bumps it back up to 204 movies riffed (if you include “The Green Slime”).

Linkara, a longtime fan of the series (seen in the closing credits of the Rifftrax Live MST3K reunion with his Tom Servo replica) and creator of the online series Atop the 4th Wall, makes two references to the new season in his latest installment of History of Power Rangers.

    1. A spaceship is seen, with a load of asteroids in tow, he says that after the Moon 13 incident, Jonah really upgraded his ride.

    2. A character is seen in a haz-mat/radiation suit, he says that they’re working on their Ardy cosplay.

Why have all my postings to this thread been removed? I don’t remember including any egregious spoiler alerts, if I did my apologies. Otherwise, however, I don’t think any of my comments were criminally libelous, untrue, or offensive. Seems strange, especially considering this website is connected to a show that proudly saluted and thanked “The Authors of the 1st Amendment”. Oh well…

Overall, I am loving the return of the show…”Am I not entertained?” Yes, I AM entertained!

Is Linkara still a massive hypocrite and self described “nasty c### slut?” Hhmmmmm? Between him and that pedo Smorky, Rifftrax seems to attract some weirdos.

I don’t remember your posts and I don’t know why they’re gone. Maybe I’d disagree with the mods’ reasons for doing so, maybe I wouldn’t. Hell, maybe it was an accident or a software bug. Maybe you misremembered which thread you posted in. Maybe there was no monster.

But, fun fact about the First Amendment: it says the government can’t restrict your speech. It doesn’t say private individuals can’t restrict your speech. This site is, last I checked, not run by the government.

The moderator of a private forum choosing to remove your posts, for any reason, or for no reason at all, has nothing whatsoever to do with the First Amendment. Your rights have not been infringed. You still have the right to go say whatever it was you said in those posts. Start your own blog. Go on public access. Stand on a street corner and recite it to passersby. Nobody is denying your right to say what you want to say in a public forum or a forum that you control; they’re only denying you the privilege of saying them in a forum that they control. They have the right to decide what content gets published on their site. You don’t.

For the record, you can’t post on my blog either.

Thad at 361: I remember the posts that I placed on this thread. No mistake there on my part. But thank you for the lesson, and you are right. It may have been any of those things, it’s just never happened to me before and I got self-righteous. My apologies.
