At last the long-lost Neville Brand appearance gets a well-deserved riffing.

The Rose Kennedy joke is an instant classic. However, contrary to what Mary Jo/Bridget claim, this film DOES pass the Bechdel Test. In fact, it may even ace the Bechdel Test. (Which is not surprising, the Bechdel “Test” was really just a joke about how low the bar is set in Hollywood, not a certificate of feminist approval.)

Still a pretty good retake on what was already a top ten episode for me from MST3K.

Wish RiffTrax would stop recycling old MST3K movies. There’s plenty of other crapola to riff on.

True..I mean, here’s a list of movies they NEED to riff: every Neil Breen movie,Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster,The Astounding She Monster,Invasion of the Blood Farmers,Moment by Moment,The Sea Serpent,Crash!,Provoked,Wizards of the Demon Sword,Night of the Kickfighters(with Adam West),Cy Warrior:Special Combat Unit(with Henry Silva),Blackenstein,Attack of the Beast Creatures,Sting of Death,Karate Cops,Space Chase,Escape from Galaxy 3,Tail Sting…just to name a few…Would love to see them riff any of these movies at one of their live events…

Yes, but then they would have to pay for it…

(If you want to know what PD titles RiffTrax COULD riff on, a quick search of Amazon Prime brings up no shortage of suggestions.)

While I’m not always a fan of re-doing MST movies, the women are never not funny. As bonus you get the whole movie — extra subplots, extra shots of Trish wandering around looking bored, Jim Baccus cooking and mumbling, a long and visually confusing montage (featuring the disco theme song), and Peter Lawford painting some unholy abstract art.

Now, let’s go try on hats.

Yes! This (along with Time Chasers) is something i’d get just to have the full movie plus riffing. Also great to have more Bridget, still my nominee for “most underused” MST player.

“STING OF DEATH” would be great, but producer/director William Grefe’ really hated on MST3K for their riff of “Wild Rebels”, so they won’t do his pics again if he has any say in it. “Death Curse of Tartu” or “Stanley” would also be fun. Also doubtful the Tom Laughlin estate would permit any of the “Billy Jack” movies to be riffed. Too bad.

While I do generally fall on the side of “new movies pleez”, I feel like Bridget and Mary Jo always bring such a fresh perspective to a film that it really does feel like I’m seeing it for the first time. Especially because this is the uncut version, and includes a few scenes that aren’t in the original. (And shouldn’t have been. Not to suggest that they’re not riffed brilliantly, but it’s always amazing to me how seeing the original cuts of MST3K movies gives the lie to the idea that they edited them to be less coherent. Frequently their edits vastly improved the film.)

I’d like to see some grouping do “Doll Squad.” Cinematic Titanic did this live but never released a video of it. Around the same time, TCM played the movie in an over-night slot so I have a cheap copy of it, unriffed, and if they aren’t using it on the new MST3K, Rifftrax should take a shot at it.

I agree they need to do new movies. There are only 10000 public domain movies begging for it out there. They also need to sign Trace & Frank up to do their own riffs right now.

oh NO! an awesome old episode riffed by hilarious women with a completely different perspective on the material! let’s start a class-action suit! waaaaahhhhhhhh!

you know, every so often I’ll check these comments to see if “hardcore” MST3K fans are the same closed-minded bunch of basement dwellers that they were in 1992, and you guys never disappoint!

see you when the new episodes drop, when you’ll have WHOLE NEW REASONS to be angry at nothing! xoxo!

I really don’t understand this thing where people keep thinking Rifftrax or MST3K can just sign Trace and Frank up for things.

You get that nobody is actually a mad scientist who gets to force people to watch bad movies for them, right? If Trace and Frank want to do another reunion show, I look forward to seeing it. But if they don’t, they don’t actually have to. They’ve got their own thing going and it sounds like they’re enjoying it.

1992 is, coincidentally, the same year you got your “basement dwellers” zinger from.

Can’t speak for others (like you should), but speaking for myself I am not mad, just ehh. I will skip this rerun and save my money for a new title. If you and others are excited, good for you.

While we’re listing movies that should be MSTed, how about “Devil Girl From Mars,” or “They Saved Hitler’s Brain”?

Totally agree…see comment #8…Or how about Titanic 2? Or High Kicks? Or The Naked Road? Or Mutant Hunt?

This was a really good riff. Having Bridget and Mary Jo do it made for a great change of pace from the original episode riffing.

I do wish that if they are going to reriff movies from MST3K episodes, pick ones from KTMA and Season 1 where the riffing wasn’t that good (or barely there). ROBOT MONSTER would make for a perfect Rifftrax!
