RIP Wolf Hartwig

Paris — German producer Wolf C. Hartwig, best known for Sam Peckinpah’s 1977 blockbuster “Cross of Iron,” has died here at the age of 98.

MSTies will remember him as coproducer of the movie in episode 1011- HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND.

Variety has the story.

Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

  2. Would love to hear how he got pulled into Spider Island. What a hot mess of Bob Boxbody and Babs, former linebacker for the Lions.

Maybe it’s just that picture, but I’ve never seen anybody look more like he should be wearing a monocle than that guy.

  5. Man, when the highlight of your producing career is in Sam Peckinpah’s very drunk years then you’re pretty far from the mainstream of entertainment. (I base this on the several interviews on the blu-ray of the movie Convoy.)

  6. Cross of Iron is a really good movie, though, one of the best war movies ever made. Sort of like a 1970s Saving Private Ryan.

Also, looking at his IMDB credits, he did produce a lot of softcorn porn in the 70s.
