RIP Robert Dowdell

Actor Robert Dowdell, perhaps best remembered as Lieutenant Commander Chip Morton in TV’s “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” died Jan. 23 after struggling with several health issues.

MSTies will remember him as Sen. Clayton in the movie in episode 324- MASTER NINJA II.

This site has a look back at his career. You can also visit Robertdowdell.com and his Facebook page.

Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

  1. Loved him in “Voyage”. When the show originally aired in the 60s, I never missed an episode. Was thrilled when he appeared in Master Ninja along with some other personal favorites – George Lazenby, David McCallum, and Monte Markham. Rest in Peace, Robert.

The late Del Monroe (who was in the pre-credit sequence from The Girl in Lovers Lane) was the only actor who appeared in both the film and the series.

Only David Hedison(born 1927) is still alive from the regular cast members of “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”, one of my favorite 60’s shows.
