RIP Tab Hunter

Santa Barbara, Calif.–Tab Hunter, the chiseled 1950s heartthrob who starred in dozens of films, including “Damn Yankees,” died at Cottage Hospital here on July 8. He was 86.
MSTies will recall he played evil mastermind Stayczek in the movie in episode 614- SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL.

The Hollywood reporter has the story.

Thanks to Paul for the heads up.

San Francisco International is my #1 episode, and Tab Hunter is definitely part of what makes it great. He really picked up the TAB for MST3K greatness! RIP.

Although he only made one “surfing movie,” I wish the gang would riff another ’60s one besides “Catalina Caper.” Perhaps “Ride the Wild Surf.” Such fun. RIP, Mr. Hunter.

  6. If you’ve never had the privilege, watch The Loved One.

There are about fifty-eight high points in this brilliant movie, and Tab Hunter’s too-short bit as a tour guide at Whispering Glades (Forest Lawn) is one of them.
