Weekend Discussion Thread: Things You Would Like to Buy

Alert reader “Blonde Russian Spy” suggests:

Since the holiday shopping season is here, what MST3K products do you wish you could really buy? They could come from an invention exchange, a host segment or the movie itself. I know several years ago someone tried to sell a rolling treadmill, like the one the Mads demonstrated in “Lost Continent,” but personally I’d just like a bowl of Wild Rebels cereal right about now.

What do you think, sirs?

I think one of those Manos capes would be very dashing.

Your pick?

An Arch Hall Jr. bobble head.

So… just Arch Hall Jr. then.

I want Chestnut Grey. He’s the Chevy Suburban of horses.

Dear Santa, just thought of something else I’d like: the horse in “The Final Sacrifice.” Thanks, you’ll find your bribe, I mean gift, of cookies in the usual spot.

How about an MST soundtrack album? Not one with the songs from the cast; one with songs from the movies themselves.Sure there would be some duds (like the off-tempo “Eeny, Meeny, Miney Mo” from “I Was a Teenage Werewolf”), but the songs from “I Accuse My Parents” and the Del-Aires would offset that.

I’ve slowly been working on that for the past several years! Off the top of my head, I’ve got a Jimmy Bryant comp, an Arch Hall CD, a Del-Aires record (plus a couple of 45s), The Birds (which has the song from The Deadly Bees, but only as recorded from the movie–they apparently never did a studio version) and the soundtracks to OK Connery (Operation Double 007) and Starcrash. My prized possession, though, is an original 7″ of Pig Sticker/Fish Licker/KISS KICKER by The Fontanelles.

If Santa could find his way to my house and put some of that incredible concept grasping ability that the couple in Are You Ready For Marriage demonstrated it would be superb. I mean, one rubber band, BOING!, and they get that they are NOT ready for marriage.

  6. I’d want that device Joel had in “Firemaidens from Outer Space”. The one that can change reality. I have so many things to fix and improve!

secondary gift: Hercules as played by Alan Steel. He’s sweet, has a wonderful smile, and can help around the house!

I would really like to see a new episode guide. Either one that covers seasons 7-12, or one that reuses elements of the original and runs through seasons 1-12.

I thought his name was Ric (R-i-c) Drywall?

While Megaweapon sounds fun I’m sure it would be out of my price range. So given the season I’d like to cast another vote for Tragic Moments figurines. Wasn’t there one with a house burning down? If if you want something more practical: (With some improvements) the Beanie Copter Hat (after all it should really go through the roof) or the William Conrad Fridge Alert.

That’s CRUEL. While you’re at it, how about a second season of “Firefly”?
