Mary Jo and Bridget have nothing to fear but boredom, itself.

Apparently this is considered to be a loose adaptation of Crime and Punishment. Detective Shaefer is portrayed by Nestor Paiva, the greasy skipper from Revenge of the Creature and the Load from The Mole People. One of the students is portrayed by Darren McGavin, who was Harry Forbes in Hanger 18. Bit part player James Conaty, who was an extra at the police station, was also the doctor who takes Lisa’s blood pressure in Rocketship X-M. While producer Lindsley Parsons hasn’t had a hand in any MST3K films, his son Lindsley Parsons Jr. was second assistant director for The Phantom Planet.

….and in completely unrelated MST3K news: Clu Gulager appears in the new Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

OK. This is not a movie MST did, it doesn’t have a title that sounds like a female might be involved, and it’s not about cooking. Any bets on what justifications SOME people will have for hating it without watching?

Me, I’m off to buy it!

You beat me to this sentiment. Indeed, the title is neutral, the two top-billed stars are men, and the subject isn’t Tupperware, female health, or popularity issues. What WILL the resident troll do? I’m betting he rags on the purse-unloading scene, which I think is hilarious. Bridget did a similar long list on the smells that one might encounter in a teenage boy’s room (I’m guessing she spoke from experience) when riffing “Cat-Women of the Moon.”

Rifftrax has two new shorts available.

    “Just Awful” and “The Troublemaker.”

I really enjoyed this one. There’s something about (SPOILERS!) the “It was all a dream” endings to movies that gets me every time, and Bridget & MJ had a lot of fun with it.

I also loved seeing Darren McGavin; he was a Billy Idol prototype with that fabulous blond hair.
