Episodes To Be on IFC

There is no shortage of places to watch MST3K episodes, but all those providers will have to move over and make room for cable channel IFC (of the AMC Networks family of channels), which has episodes listed on this month’s schedule, mostly in the wee hours.

Here it is (all times eastern standard time):

TUE, JAN 07
1:00A The Crawling Eye

WED, JAN 08
1:00A The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy

THU, JAN 09
1:02A Catalina Caper

FRI, JAN 10
1:00A Bride of the Monster

SAT, JAN 11
1:00A Santa Claus
3:10A The Beast of Yucca Flats
5:20A The Crawling Eye
7:30A The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy

Thanks to Jason Bacon for the heads up.

    That’s nice to know.

Why is IFC programming it when networks usually air infomercials?

Perhaps they are after the late night MSTie audience that shows up for work the next day with the crawling eye?

ZLiving has been showing episodes from the whole run. I’ve seen them show “Mad Monster” from Season 1, and “Horrors of Spider Island” from Season 10. I suspect that pretty much every episode that Shout still has the rights to has been made available.

I just checked the schedule and I’m not sure if ZLiving is broadcasting the show now. It’d been previously broadcast on Saturday nights at 9, but it’s not on this Saturday. One guide says it’s scheduled for Sunday night/Monday morning at 12M, while another guide says it isn’t. I’ll have to check on this.

Comet is also showing Mst3k again after a brief hiatus. They are on Friday nights at 10 p.m. Tonight they are showing 409-The Indestructible Man.

I was just going to say that. Back to back episodes, I think. They were playing the Mad Monster when I got home from work.

Do the episodes on these channels run longer than the original 2 hour time slot so that they can fit in more commercials and still show the whole episode? Thanks!

I just wanted to remind everyone about the MST3K and Rifftrax channels on PlutoTV. 24 hours a day riffing on both channels. The selection is a bit limited, though.

You can watch MST3K on Twitch.tv as well, but I hope you like frequent blocks of commercials.

I would love it if this were a trial run of MST3K on IFC. If it does well enough, who knows? Maybe Joel wants to take the show back to basic cable? I have always felt that IFC would be a good fit for new episodes of MST3K!

I agree. A real TV channel is where MST3K belongs.

    Try viewing twitch.tv on Safari.

    There should be no commercials.

I’ll try that. I’ve been doing it through their app.

  15. Is “ZLiving” some kind of Zombie Lifestyle network?

  16. I’m just Blue Skying here, but IF MST3k ever comes back on and it’s on IFC, can Janey Varney be the host?

I’ve only seen her in a couple of Rifftrax’s through Pluto and she seems funny and I like her riffing voice. Also she’s purty!

It’s already been replaced by “The Giant Gila Monster”!

It seems to be a “better living” network during the day. It has some health programs, as well as a bunch of yoga shows. During prime time, it switches to classic TV (like “Route 66” and “The Saint”) and old movies (mainly Westerns). They didn’t have MST3K on this weekend, so maybe it’s been dropped.

A channel that DirecTV doesn’t carry. So, d better hope IFC starts to carry more after this week.

  21. Funny, I caught this as I was running the IFC schedule ahead to set the DVR timer for this weeks Toast of London season 2 episodes this Wed night!

Long time IFC fan… while the channel certainly isn’t what it used to be many yrs back, it’s still one of the few cable channels we’ll default to and leave on if we’re all upstairs and want some background noise.

Back in their heyday, IFC didn’t run commercials during movies …over time, they had to buckle on that, unfortunately, but are still thee only remaining channel from that bygone era grouping (Bravo, Sundance, IFC, etc) that, unlike the rest, doesn’t censor content or ‘speed up’ content to force it into one time slot or another. Also, as was mentioned up-thread, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen “infomercials” on IFC. They run plenty of bad movies, a few good ones, an over-abundance of That 70s Show (fairly entertaining, although sort of a vehicle for promoting conservative ideals with ‘liberal’ window dressing)… and in recent yrs, gave us the enjoyable Stan Against Evil, that I found to stand head n shoulders above Star’s Ash vs Evil Dead series that ran simultaneously as SAE.

After IFC pulled the plug Stan after 3 seasons, they imported one of mine and our daughter’s favorite shows ever: Baroness von Sketch Show!!! …can’t get enough of those Canadian gals! …hysterical and sharp. And more recently, IFC has imported Britain’s Toast of London (“yes, I can hear you, Clem Fandango”) which we’ve completely gotten on board with …and IFC will be bringing US audiences yet another Matt Berry series starting this Feb, with Year of the Rabbit.

Anyway, yes, ha…saw that a handful of MST episodes were listed, and it immediately made me wonder if anything may or may not be in the works for continued and/or expanded MST development with IFC(???)

Well, “Master Ninja 2” is not wrong. This is a politics free-zone. And politicizing That 70s Show lmao! What next, the politics of Happy Days, or as slippery slopes go, politicizing MST3K itself? Let’s show some constraint, and keep this a sanctuary from the horrors of the outside world. That’s what MST3K is all about, right?

  25. Hey, no worries, gang… even back when I posted here yrs ago, it was typically infrequent. And I’m clearly not a regular ’round here these days (guess that makes me an irregular! ha) …I’d just stopped by recently via circumstance and nostalgia over the holidays.

As to the other matter, any sensible reading of my earlier posting would conclude that I wasn’t attempting to steer the thread into a “political” discussion… a single sentence among a fairly long, stream-of-consciousness ramble about some of the various IFC and Starz programming I’ve seen over the yrs isn’t exactly tantamount to ‘discussing politics.’ That’s just someone who doesn’t like the cut of my jib to begin with cherry-picking.

True, I am an old politico, and an anti-authoritarian leftist. And as such, am generally inclined to tell someone to go **** themselves should they attempt to ‘police’ or curtail my views anywhere… a trait that made me quite the colorful character to be around when I was half my age and playing drums in heavy metal bar bands! ha. But, at this forum, however, I’ll gladly abide regulations. No sweat. Later, Misties…. and hopefully IFC will make MST a regular addition to their roster!

Watching The Crawling Eye now. My biggest complaint: A 4-5 minute commercial break between the theme song and the first host segment.

Comet clumsily cuts out the fan letters, and sometimes there’s a random cut.

Well, in any case, I think it would be correct to say, “Man IFC, you used to cool.” Sundance Channel had taken a similar dark, commercial path as well.

I noticed that the ones on IFC add time so as not to cut anything out of the episode. Their motto is even “We never cut for content or time” or something like that. Yay for IFC! I’ll echo some previous comments and hope they continue to show more episodes after the seemingly trial run.

It still gets an amazed chuckle outta me whenever I catch the beginning of an MST episode at the end of something else on IFC I’ve recorded. Really hope IFC really runs with it. Also, I’ve seen the advert IFC is running to promote MST, and it’s from a SOL skit from Bride of the Monster, with Crow delivering the “they tampered in God’s domain” bit. Hysterical
