The Rifftrax was funny, but I found this movie genuinely creepy on its own terms. It also has a short running time going for it.
Though I found multiple films on IMDB with the title Stitches, I believe it’s the 2001 direct to video offering. While Gary Schmoeller (Face on Imp as well as executive in charge of production) didn’t have a direct hand in any MST3K films, his brother David co-wrote The Day Time Ended. Executive producer Charles Band was executive producer for Robot Holocaust and The Day Time Ended and a producer for Laserblast. Producer Chuck Williams was Tommy Marcetto in Sooooouuuuultaker.
Killer creepy Grandma stuff- much more so than The Touch of Satan.
Well, this film is a deep dive for Rifftrax.
When I read the title, I thought it was the 1985 Alan Smithee movie.

The script for the film was originally written for Full Moon’s Witchouse, but was turned down after Full Moon decided that they had wanted something more in the vein of Night of the Demons for that film.
The paper-dolls were originally meant to be rag dolls and the paper Imp was supposed to be a stitched-together ball of fur.
Yep: Any ONE of those pedigree citations should give you your answer.
The Charles Band of those glorious Empire Pictures (ah, the days of Re-Animator, Trancers and Troll 1), and goofy 90’s Full Moon direct-videos ain’t what he used to be–Like with “Sharktopus” producer Roger Corman, SyFy has corrupted them into a goofy name-only producer of direct-to-streaming titles trying to cash in on past franchises, while x-prod Band stays on as name figurehead.
(Yeah, it hasn’t even gone PD on Prime yet!)
For a second, read that too quickly as “Curse of the Demon”, and thought paper dolls were all those two movies had in common.

Dull and hateful, a hard combo to pull off. The riffs are fine, but they couldn’t stop watching this film from being a chore for us.
This thoroughly unpleasant little film is made barely tolerable by the riffing. The effects are only “special” in the sense that they seem to have been rendered by a High School “special ed” class. The Director’s attempt to create tension, through the use of endless tight shots and the occasional Dutch Angle, results only in the entire affair feeling claustrophobic rather than menacing. The substandard acting, coupled with a barely competent script, is best left without further comment. And don’t even get me started on the lighting. The riffing is the only bright spot in this otherwise dismal and easily ignored cinematic cow-flop; a few riffs did illicit genuine laughs from me and the missus. Still, 6.5/10 would watch again.
