I’ll wait for the live version of the “Rudolph” riffing. There’s no way a pre-taped version could be as good without the loooooong laugh following the line.

#2: Will they release a live version? Drat, if I’d known that, I would’ve waited to buy it…
Plus Mike’s, “We lost about four lines with that one, but it was worth it”.

I think that’s the same Rudolph cartoon that I’ve seen in the public domain VHS, now DVD, video bin since I was a little kid.

Is anybody else having trouble downloading their purchases from RiffTrax in the past week to ten days? I’m a rural dweller who has to rely on dial up internet service. So it has always been a challenge for me given the size of these files. I’ll usually start a download as I go to bed. After all some of these 80 meg type shorts can take about six hours for me. But lately the downloads are just stopping cold. I’ll get anywhere from 300k to maybe 2 meg and then they stop claiming “all files complete.” I’ve been trying for over a week now to get the free Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that came with the Plan 9 live DVD I bought. But it just isn’t happening. I should note that I’ve had some difficultly doing some non-RiffTrax downloads lately. But in those other cases I got what I was after with three to four tries. But I simply can’t get my RiffTrax now. I’ve literly made 30+ tries with Harry Potter and I’ve also been unsucessfully struggling with Rudolph.

    Any thoughts?

I’ve bought all of the Christmas Shorts to compile a watchable DVD for holiday viewing. I didn’t get to go to the LIVE Shorts-stravagnza, but of what I’ve seen, the studio version of Rudolph is outrageously funny.

    Oh…

    To #5:
I’m sure it is probably your internet connection, but I was downloading Christmas Toyshop and it stopped in mid-download. I tried again, and no problems. Other than that, I’ve had no trouble lately downloading the many shorts I’ve purchased.

Also, I hope they release the Pork and Swimming shorts that were performed at the recent LIVE event.

To Dan in WI, I noticed some weird lag when downloading these new shorts. Once the download started it went fine for me, but for some reason there was a huge lag of a minute or two between when I clicked on each the file to download it, and when the save window came up that let me choose where I wanted it and actually start the download. I was doing something else rather demanding on my computer at the same time (photoshop), but it was still the first time I can recall that it took anywhere near that long to get the save window even while running numerous other apps, which I often am.

Also I think people will be waiting a while for any live versions of these. I have no doubt they will probably release a live DVD of this show as they did with Plan 9, but I can’t imagine why they would bother with that until next year around Christmas time.

Hey Dan in WI-Are you using a download manager? I use a program called Igetter and it works okay for me, and usually lets me resume unfinished downloads provided that I have it set up to sign me in to rifftrax. I’m on the evil dial-up at home too-maybe lots of people are DLing the shorts and that’s causing problems for low-speed connections? If you keep having problems I would email Rifftrax, their customer service is excellent.

I use Firefox and its built in download manager. Sometimes it will resume and pick up where it left off. Sometimes it won’t. I haven’t been able to figure out the pattern yet. I did sent an email last night to the RiffTrax customer service. I haven’t heard anything back yet but would agree it has been pretty good in the past. I noticed the reconstruction the RiffTrax site has been going on lately and I do wonder if that isn’t a contributing cause of the issues.

I like how they still reference the previous “Shorts” in the Live lineup. “Christmas Rhapsody” took place before “Christmas Dream” (“the no account tree in the girl’s room). Then “Rudolph”, there was a comment about the swimming short that preceded “Rudolph”. I hope they have a VOD of the live show before New Year’s, since I figure it would make more sense if they wait ’til next year to release the LIVE DVD of the christmas show. Granted, I would love to see a DVD in a few months, maybe a Chistmas in July?

Well put me in the problem group now. The front page refuses to load if I’m logged in (so I have to clear cookies out to go to the site), and after unsuccessfully trying to get my Maniac DVD for the last two weeks or so, I tried one of those download managers I’d just read about.

Turns out, those will eventually get you blocked out from your own files. I guess anything larger than a short is more than my network can handle. Better get them on shelves fast, since that’s fast becoming my only real option.
