Weekend Discussion Thread: Season THREE Host Segments

Okay for the next four weeks were are choosing from among those massive 24-episode seasons, so we’ll expand your options: You are allowed to choose a top 10 with an honorable mention, and you can also pick a worst segment if you like.
Once again SEASON THREE ONLY.
Here’s mine, basically in episode order:
• New Age music from Some Guys in Space. — 303- POD PEOPLE: Topical (at the time), witty and has great interaction between Joel and Crow.
• Marketing mad dogs around the water cooler. — 307- DADDY-O: bright and funny and still fresh today.
• Song: “Hike Your Pants Up.” — 307- DADDY-O: One of the show’s great songs, and Joel just goes completely off the rails with it.
• Joel agonizes about being a 50-foot man. — 309- THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN: Aah! It’s a hilarious parody of a ridiculous moment in the movie! Aah!
• Old Joel Robinson had a farm? — 310- FUGITIVE ALIEN: One of those classic “Joel vapor locks” moments. Help us!
• Sarcastic banter over dinner. — 311- IT CONQUERED THE WORLD: They took the catty dinner scene from the movie and amped it up juuust a notch. Brilliant.
• J&TB read through Crow’s screenplay, “Earth vs. Soup.” — 313- EARTH VS. THE SPIDER: Funny from about four different angles, and everybody’s performance is letter-perfect.
• “Catching Ross.” — 315- TEENAGE CAVEMAN: One of those wonderfully chaotic looney toons moments on MST3K, and of course deeply cathartic.
• Mr. B. Natural: man or woman? — 319- WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST: The classic debate, as a much a parody of debates as it is a commentary on the short. Great stuff.
• J&TB read their Christmas essays. — 321- SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS: Landmark moment on the series, always hilarious and heartwarming, even after a dozen viewings.
• Honorable mention: Tom pairs detectives with their appropriate pets. 324- MASTER NINJA II: The kind of sketch I always love: it makes no sense at all and nobody seems to mind.
• Worst segment: Joel attempts a spit-take lesson, but the dumb guy from the movie keeps appearing on the Hexfield. — 307- DADDY-O: Sometimes those hexfield visitors just kind of went nowhere.
Have at it!

Pod People (303)–Idiot Control Now. TV’s Frank rocks that t-shirt, and the sketch is just so…so….Joel.

But there’s also the cathartic “Catching Ross” from Teenage Caveman (315), displaying again that the host segments oriented around the short rather than the main feature just tend to be that much funnier. Plus, it’s a great segment to calm the righteous indignation that “Catching Trouble” inspires.

Everyone run to their Amazing Colossal Episode Guides! (You know, I just realized that that may be a reference to The Amazing Colossal Man… swish.)

303 – Pod People: Segment 2: Idiot Control Now. The song they write is simply incredible (kick the nipple beer?) and Joel’s “It Stinks!” has become a favorite of mine for years.
306 – Time of the Apes: Segment 2: Why Doesn’t Johnny Care? I just love the realistic filmreel sound effects, as well as the overall message – that all Japanese children feel the world is their demonic playpen.
308 – Gamera Vs Gaos: Segment 3: The Gameradammerung. Anytime this show does something that seems to have an incredible buildup to almost no payoff is classic. My liebechatzen turtle!
311 – It Conquered The World: Segment 2: Winter Sports Cavalcade. It seems Kevin Murphy’s voice was made for narrating shorts footage. Stuff like hockey ball? Hilarious.
315 – Teenage Caveman: Segment 2: Catching Ross. Then, it’s hammer time.
315 – Teenage Caveman: Segment 3: A continuation of the fight beginning in the Invention Exchange between Frank and Forrester. It’s just incredible. Garfield’s got a red butt.
317 – Viking Women and the Sea Serpent: All: Waffles!
318 – Star Force: Fugitive Alien 2: Segment 4: The Fugitive Alien medley. This episode was one of the first Joel shows I ever saw, and the songs have always stuck with me. Tried to kill me with a forklift!
319 – War Of The Colossal Beast: Segment 4: KTLA Predicts! As much as I love the B Natural debate, I have to give it to Joel for making me crack up with the KTLA voice. The ending is perfect as well.
321 – Santa Claus Conquers the Martians: Segment 4: Christmas Essays. A classic and holds up remarkably well through time. Joel’s is very depressing.
323 – The Castle of Fu Manchu: Segment 4: The Life of Fu Manchu in artist renderings. Hilarious. But it’s all about the Mads winning this episode. And it’s even better when they try to riff at the episode’s end and are just terrible.

Honorable mentions: 308 – Gamera Vs Gaos: Segment 2: Tom and Crow interrupt Joel’s craft project with their horrible advice to children. They’re bad role models.
Also, mention must be made for 313 – Earth VS the Spider: Segment 2: Earth VS Soup. Not my favorite of the Crow Screenplay skits, but without it we wouldn’t have the rest. It all started here, friends.
Finally, 324 – Master Ninja II: Segment 3: General Van Patten. Fantastic stuff. It narrowly beats out the Van Patten project, which is also great.

Worst segment? Probably Siblings with the Same Last Name song. I just didn’t find it funny. And the fact that it’s overshadowed by every other sketch, as well as the fantastic Peter Graves speech, is just sad.

I wanted to do a comprehensive list, but I had eleven that I really didn’t want to whittle down by the time I got to 313. So sue me.

    1) Joel’s Foley Lesson (301). Starts off accurate, then gets just a LITTLE silly (so that I imagine young viewers wondering if they really use a box of hamsters to simulate a herd of buffalo).

    2) Tom’s Serenade to Tibby (302). Sweet and goofy through and through.

    3) Clowns in the Sky (303). The exchange at the end always kills me.
    Joel: I love you, Tom.
    Tom: I love you, Joel.
    Joel: I love you, Crow.
Crow: You’re not my real father!
Joel: What do you think, sirs?
    (Mads give OK sign)
    Mads: It STINKS!

    4) The 5,000 Piece Fighting Men and Monster Set (304): “then watch the action from high atop Tokyo Tower, as the twisted world you created explodes in rivers of blood and endless pain!” I always love this era’s ability to go pitch-dark with a genuine smile and laugh.

    5) The Sandy Frank Song (306). The famous rights-losing ditty. “Sandy Frank, Sandy Frank, gads about the house all day!”

    6) The Pants-Up Song (307). “Take your butt cheeks for a ride!” Worth it just for Joel’s goofy big-smile vapor-lock.

    7) The Button Won’t Work (307). I love all the variations of this that they come up with.
Forrester: Frank, what are you doing in here?
Frank: I just wanted a… piece of water.
    Forrester: “A piece of water”?
    Frank: I mean a glass of… cake.

    8) Jack Perkins in Deep 13 (310). This just gets funnier and funnier as it goes along through the episode. The cattle prod bit always convulses me.

    9) Peter Graves’ Speech (311). Gets funnier and funnier with each repeat, until I usually completely lose it when the stinger starts to repeat it again.

    10) The Gamera Song (312). In all its different performances, especially by Michael Feinstein. “It kind of sneaks up on you. ‘Boo,’ it says.”

    11) Dangerous Toys of Yesteryear (313). Again, Joel gets hyper, in his very laid-back way, about his childhood.

Season 3 is the first season I discovered MST3K. So it holds special meaning to me.
Top 5 Favorite host segments in no particular order:
321-Santa Claus Conquers the Martians: “A Patrick Swayze Christmas” Greatest line in song: “I’ll have to smash your kneecaps if you bastards touch my car.” Cracks me up all the time.

    Crow’s masterpiece “Earth vs. Soup”
    319-War of the Colossal Beast
    The Mr. B. Natural debate
317-Viking Women and the Sea Serpent
All the segments concering waffles. Pure genius writing sketches about waffles. I desperatly want this one on DVD.
    310-Fugitive Alien
The parts in Deep 13 where Dr. F. tries to shut up Jack Perkins.

    1. 324 Master Ninja II – the gerbilsphere for the invention exchange – the last line is perfect (He’s dead!”) just before they go into the theater.
    2. 307 Daddy-O and the drag-racing recreation; Crow looks great as a blonde.
    3. 307 again, with the “Pants Up” song. Love Joel vapor-locking.
    4. 303 Pod People – “Hideous Control Now.”
    5. 310 Fugitive Alien – Joel acting out a “Captain Joe” scene w/Crow & Tom.
    6. 321 Santa Claus Conquers the Martians – “A Patrick Swayze Christmas” is a holiday must. Favorite line: “I’ll have to break your kneecaps if you bastards touch my car.”
    7. 301 Cave Dwellers – the reenactment of the opening credits, especially the way Joel takes Servo’s head off before slicing.
    8. 318 Fugitive Alien II – the Captain Joe action figure.
    9. 324 Master Ninja II – Crow as General Timothy Van Patten.
    10. 311 It Conquered the World – Dysfunctional Dinner Talk – gets funnier every time I hear it.

I’ve only seen five of the episodes in Season 3. So I can probably only name about 3 or 4 top host segments.
    1. Pod People: Trumpy You can Do Magic Things. I really started to like Joel as a host when I saw that one, since I only started watching MST3K when it was on Sci-Fi channel.
    2. Cave Dwellers: Re-enacting the credit sequence. I always just loved what BBI wrote in the credits.
    3. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians: J&TB’s Christmas Essays. Especially Joel’s. Reminds me of a job I had back around 99-01 and the Christmas parties there.
    4. The Unearthly: Hard pills to swallow. My sister’s a pharmacist and she thought that was great.

  10. Keith says:

I’ve watched a disappointingly small number of season 3 episodes, but here’s some of my faves:

    1. The “Hard Pill to Swallow” invention from The Unearthly. A fiendishly dark sketch made all the funnier by Frank’s sobbing throughout.
    2. The bit about Trumpy’s magic powers in Pod People.
    3. The foley discussion from Cave Dwellers. Fresh celery does sound like a fairly convincing bone breaking…
    4. The last segment in Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Like the episode overall, it’s a nice blend of typical MST3K silliness with some heartwarming but not overly cheesy moments to boot.
    5. The closing segment for Cave Dwellers. Joel’s expression and the various continuity screw-ups featured are worth a laugh.
    6. The “appreciating Gypsy” skit from The Unearthly. “Pinch yourself hard, Mr. Robot, you deserve it!”
    7. The Mac vs. PC debate from Gameron vs. Barugon. Thank goodness they’re not console gamers…
    8. The Waffle Song from Viking Women vs. the Sea Serpeant. Haven’t seen the episode, though, just the sketch. Is that cheating? (More on that when we get to Season Five…)

That’s really all can think of.

I haven’t seen very many Season 3 episodes at all, but these are the ones I like best, in chronological order I guess.

    1) Joel’s foley lesson from Cave Dwellers (301). As someone else said, I love how it goes from actually being educational to completely ridiculous.
    2) “Idiot Control Now” from Pod People (303). Ridiculous-as-hell lyrics, Gypsy constantly coming in late, Frank rocking the “I’m a Virgin” shirt. It just does everything right.
    3) “Music from Some Guys in Space” from Pod People again (303). Kind of low-key, but it has some killer lines. “Now hold it down…until you get a record contract from Wyndham Hill!”
    4) “Clown in the Sky” from, yet again, Pod People (303). This episode in general probably has most of my favorite host segments. Just a great song.
    5) “Let’s Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas” from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (321). It’s just hilarious, especially if you’ve ever seen Road House (which I have, several times).
    6) The Christmas essays from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Tom’s is just genius and Joel’s is hilariously depressing.

    Honorable Mentions:
The slightly more lucid credits sequence from Cave Dwellers. Mostly amusing just for the fun credits.
The breakdown of just how bad Cave Dwellers was a the end of that episode. Have to love the tire tracks in the field.
“You’re magic, aren’t you Trumpy?” from Pod People. Even though it’s just re-enacting that scene from Pod People verbatim, it makes me laugh really hard every single time.

I only have three since I’ve only seen a handful of Season 3:

-Yet another vote for the “Hike up your britches” song from Daddi-o.

-How to make a Gamera Mask from “Gamera vs. Gaos”. I love Crow telling the kids that the muselage (sp?) glue is like honey and they should taste it. It reminded me of when I was a little kid and I always thought that glue looked tasty.

-The reenacting of the slo-mo opening credits of Cave Dwellers

    Worst:
The re-writable tattoo invention exchange from The Amazing Colossal Man.

Sampo, these Fave Host Seg questions are evil, man! With more than 144 host segs in season 3, I can’t keep them all straight!

Where to POSSIBLY begin?! If I were to do a list of the top 25 host segments, I can almost guarantee that 50% would come from this season alone! But these are my off-the-top-of-the-head picks…

#301 “Frolic, cavort, parade, gad about the ship” skit.
#303 Every darn segment is gold! (Ninny on the road now!)
#307 “Hike up your pants now.”
#316 Everyone does their version of the Gamera song. The Mads kill me EVERY time with this one!

I have to say min are and have to be:
    1. Let’s have a Patrick Swayze Christmas
    2. Tom Servo’s song about Tibby the Turtle
    3. That one on the Pod People where they lovingly recreate the studio and do that silly song and Joel goes It Stinks.
    4. The Sandy Frank song.
    5. The debate on weather Mr. B Natural is a man or a woman.
    6. Earth vs. the Soup
    7. The recreation of the opening to Cave Dwellers.
    8. Trumpy’s magical powers.
    9. The one where they talk about Christmas past.
    10. Why doesn’t Johnny care?

  18. Bob says:

Picking just three favorites is actually impossible once again, but I’m going with these three if I have to keep the list short:

Pod People: The sketch recreating the studio recording session from the movie. The lyrics Joel sings are hilarious and the way the puppets are used as backup singers in costume is priceless, especially with the additional character parodies done on the Deep 13 set. Every second of this sketch is drop-dead hilarious for me and all the cast do an amazing job of being 100% funny in their assigned parts. I don’t know why, but “bees on pie” slays me!

Gamera: Tibby Oh Tibby as sung by Tom Servo, with added jokes by Joel and Crow. The abuse heaped on Servo by Crow as Servo sings that way-too-serious ballad to a fake turtle is fantastically funny.

Cave Dwellers: The foley lesson by Joel. The way it starts out somewhat sincere and then builds toward absurdity is comedy genius. Timing and delivery are great throughout.

Since we’re technically allowed up to ten choices now, here are a few more favorites of mine on top of the three shown above:

    Daddy-O: The pants up song.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians: Patrick Swayze Xmas.
War of the Colossal Beast: The debate as to whether or not Mr. B is a man or a woman.
Cave Dwellers: Giving special names to ordinary things.
Gamera vs. Barugon: The action play set commercial.
Time of the Apes: Why doesn’t Johnny care?
Amazing Colossal Man: Joel agonizes about being a 50-foot man while sitting in a cardboard “house”, sort of pretending that he’s Glen from the movie while the ‘Bots try and comfort him with what are essentially Barbie dolls.

    1. (306) The Scopes monkey trial, always cracks me up
    2. (321) Patrick Swayze X-Mas
    3. (321) X-Mas essays; after all, no ever kid gets them.
    4. (317) the waffles song; E is for eggs, oh baby!
    5. (307) Hike your pants up song; I was just singing this to my 20-month old today when he was running around with his pants hanging down.
    6. (319) The Mr. B Natural debate
    7. (303) Idiot Control Now song and It Stinks
    8. (306) the Sandy Frank song
    9. (306) Why doesn’t Johnny care? I’m not sure if I would either.
    10. (315) Catching Ross
Hon. mention, (306) the fashion show; I think I like all of the seg’s from this episode.

I loved the intervention for Captain Joe action figure from 318 – Star Force: Fugitive Alien 2!

Joel (as Donatello): “Captain Joe, dude, I loved you, but I’m not gonna sit here and watch you cowabungle your life!”

All the segments from this episode were great imo.

The rest of my faves are the classics that’ve been covered already many times over.

This season really does have some great host segments.

I too will pick ‘A Patrick Swayze Christmas’ (or else they’d tear my throat out, and kick me in the ear).

Also, yes, ‘Why Doesn’t Johnny Care’, truly a shining moment in international relations.

Hideous Control now. “Pants on fire, burning rubber tires.” Absolutely perfect.

I’ll take at least one nobody’s mentioned yet, Joel’s explanation of how awesome Creeple People were. “Sure I got burned! We all did! But some kids didn’t have the sense to keep quiet.”

“Catching Ross”. Every time I watch the short on my DVD, it seems incomplete without the sketch.

“Mr. B: Man or Woman?” Ditto.

“The Many Faces of Tor Johnson.” What can I say, the man’s got range.

The SOL’s Winter Sports Cavalcade. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this one, but I remember it fondly.

Joel’s foley bit. Very nicely done. Has just enough credibility that you’re never quite sure if it’s real foley tricks or just Joel being goofy.

The Sandy Frank medley from Fugitive Alien II. Is there anyone so cold that their heart doesn’t melt at, “Don’t try to kill us with a forklift…”

Honorable Mention: The ape fashion show, from ‘Time of the Apes’. It goes on a bit too long, I think, but nice use of footage from the film.

Out of friendship to the show, I won’t pick a worst. :)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Wish Squisher from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. That was a truly evil invention (though it was pretty obvious that Frank was turning the boxes upside-down before putting them through).

Speaking of which, I’m also a fan of Let’s Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas. It’s up there with Boston Charlie as one of the great Christmas songs.

Appreciating Gypsy is another great one.

    Trumpy you can do magic!

With the possible exception of the reimagined opening credit sequence, the host segments for Cave Dwellers were pretty blah. Quite a contrast to such a goofy Pecs & Pulchritude flick.

‘Pod People’: the re-creation of the recording studio scene. the sight of the bots in a parody of the 1980’s nightmare garb worn by the Pod People gals, Frank ‘he’s the BEST’-ing in the ‘I’m A Virgin’ t-shirt, the mystery ‘Addicted To Love’ video siren snapping her probably supposed-to-be cocaine coated fingers behind [perhaps the lovely and talented Bridget Jones?], the hilarious lyrics ‘all I want to feel now is the wind in my eyes/stack of monkeys in my pocket/my sister’s ready to go’ sung by an appropriately prima donna rock star Joel- very very funny. I love how Gypsy lurches around and croaks her song lines at the wrong times.
and oh god- the dinner bickering scene in ‘It Conquered the World’- no matter how often I rewind it and watch it again, it puts me on the floor. I have flashbacks [now laughable] of growing up in a family of Catholic repressed rage with a sharp-tongued intellectual mother leading the round robin of barbed personal remarks during what is supposed to be a ‘nice’ family time. the SOL crew nails this misery. I also love the scene in the movie where the satellite is being guided in, and Joel and the bots do a ‘C’mon!’ ‘Shut up’ ‘what?’ medley. I know this is a digression from the topic, but I can’t help it- the scene is so darn funny. bless you, MST3K!

It’s hard for me to pick individual host segments from the few Season 3s I’ve seen, since a lot of the segments went together well, forming an arc for that particular episode, even when there wasn’t really a storyline (unlike in, say, The Sinister Urge and Red Zone Cuba). So I kinda have to list them by episode. Also bear in mind, I’ve hardly seen any besides the MST3K hour and video releases, so 303 and 301 will always be sentimental favs.

    Pod People
    1. “Hideous Control” Song: The Mads rarely play along so well during a recreation of something from the movie. It was just perfect.
    2. “Clown in the sky”: Why the heck does Crow get disassembled as part of striking the set? Why not?
    3. “Wow Trumpy, you really are magic, aren’t you?”

Plus MFSGIS and the New Guitar Chord/PD Karaoke invention exchange… Was this their most musical experiment ever?

    Cave Dwellers
    4. The opening recreation always evokes the general feel of all those early 80s Italian exploitation/cash-in films and takes me back to my youth.
    5. To this day, my friends and I still crack up while reciting the continuity problem recap. Few other closing segments so nicely capped off an experiment.
    6. The foley demonstration was one of the first host segments I ever saw. I once aspired to a career in radio, so it struck a chord with me.

    Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
    7. A Patrick Swayze Christmas
    8. The Bots’ essays

    Master Ninja I
    9. Only saw this once, almost a decade ago, and have very hazy memories of any host segment, but The Van Patten Project still somehow stands out in my mind as hilarious.

    Fugitive Alien
    10. First ep I actually watched part of. Therefore, Joel the dairy farmer seemed funny on it’s own, but a few minutes later, as earth fell to Judy Garland impersonators, I understood just why this was the greatest show ever conceived.

Least favorite? The Unearthly board game could have been so much better if they’d actually DONE something with it and worked it into a frenzied pace, like the Gamera action set. I guess it was still a nice homage to how Mousetrap was so grueling to set up that by the time you were ready to play, you were exhausted and several parts had broken.

Everything from the Pod People. This is my single favorite episode. From Frank’s T-Shirt to the ‘Idiot Control Now’ and ‘Clown in the Sky’ songs. The ‘music from some guys in space’. Other greats from this season the continuity recap from the Cave Dwellers. The man/woman debate from the Mr.B Natural short. And the essays from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. I think this season’s host segments are second only to season eights.

As much as these topics are neat & fun to talk about I will news about the ShoutFactory
To talk about all the segments I liked in Season 3 would take a long time :)

For me it’s Earth vs. Soup from 313 – Earth vs. the Spider, the credit re-enactment from 301 – Cave Dwellers (low budget puppet show at its best), 311 – It Conquered the World (“Dye! That’s what this coffee tastes like. Dye!”), and the Unearthly board game from 320 – The Unearthly (Joel derailing the game with his Carradine impression).

Also, if we’re including invention exchanges, I’ll say the public domain karaoke machine from 303, Pod People. Dr. F’s facial contortions during “Ave Maria” haunt me to this day.

My favorites (so hard to choose):
-The final bit in “Cave Dwellers” where they point out the incompetence of the makers caught on film (which would be done again in “Attack of the the Eye Creatures”).
-All the segments from “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”. “SLEEEEEEP! IN HEAVENLY PEEEEACE!”
-The two segment rainy day “bored/poker” sketch from “Teenage Caveman.” Also, Rainy Day Epicacs.
-B Natural Debate from “War of the Colossal Beast.” “No William F. Buckley impersonations!”
Least favorite: The ENDLESS repetition of Peter Graves’ speech from “It Conquered the World.” It went nowhere and just was not funny.

Another great season for host segments…

My favorite of that season is the “Old Joel Robinson had a farm” intro segment from 310.

The rest of my top 10, in no chronologica order.

    303 – Idiot Control Now
307 – Hike Up Your Pants song
318 – The bots discuss the nature of puppets…
    318 – Fugitive Alien medley
    319 – Mr. B – Man or Woman?
321 – Crow & Tom look at Christmas catalogs
    321 – A Patrick Swayze Christmas
    321 – J&TB’s read their Christmas essays
324 – General Timothy Van Patton

Pod People: Idiot Control. I know almost the whole song!
Cave Dwellers: When they re-do the credits. It’s so funny!

Man!!! With 24 episodes and many great host segments to choose from, where to begin…..

    1) 303-Pod People-segment 5: “Clowns in the Sky” is THE best MST3K song, hands down!!
    2) 308-Amazing Colossal Man-segment 4: Glen Manning (played by Mike Nelson) visits the SOL and causes comic mayhem.
    3) 311-It Conquered the World-segment 3: J&TB firing insults at each other over dinner; it has a KTMA/season 1 feel to it while also being edgy.
    4) 312-Gamera vs. Guiron-segment 5: again, Mike Nelson (as Michael Feinstein) shows why he’s a head writer: versatile, musically able, and VERY funny!
    5) (sorry, Sampo) 307-Daddy-O-segment 4: the “spit take” with Joel trying to teach the ‘bots, then Mike’s dead-on impersonation of the doofus henchman, has always been a personal fav for some reason I can’t explain.
    6) 316- Gamera vs Zigra-segment 5: J&TB doing their own styles of the Gamera theme song…then the ‘Mads doing THEIR own kick-a$$ version! Rock on, Forrester & Frank!!
7)& 8 319-War of the Colossal Beast-segments 2 & 4: the Mr. B Natural debate & the return of Glen Manning to the SOL. Great segments to what was a lackluster episode for me.
    9) 321-Santa Claus Conquers the Martians-segment 2: “A Patrick Swayze Christmas” has to be on any MST list of fav host segments. Always a riot no matter what Patrick Swayze is going through in real life.
    10) 323-The Castle of Fu Manchu-segment 4: a direct illustration of when the three boys watch a REALLY bad movie….the ‘bots crumble emotionally, but Joel does his best to keep the morale on the ship up. However, even HE has his breaking point!
Honorable Mention: 314-Mighty Jack-segment 5: the “Slow the Plot Down” song they sing after the movie is underrated and clever, even if it never gets mentioned.
worst: 315-Teenage Caveman-segment 4: Joel teaching the ‘bots about progressive thinking? Guys, I watch you to be entertained, not learn anything!!

My top ten, in an order that no one likely will really care about:

    1. GameraTibby, Oh Tibby. Some great Crow and Tom moments here.
    2. Pod People – Sooo many for this episode, but my favorite is probably “You are magic, aren’t you Trumpy?” Dr. F and Frank’s expressions are priceless.
    3. Daddy-OHike Your Pants Up. Yeah, I’m a sucker for the musical segments. What can I say?
    4. Gamera vs. Gaos – The craft lesson, especially “Mucilage does not taste like sweet honey, from one who knows.”
    5. Teenage Caveman – “Catching Ross”. A great reaction to a very wrong short.
    6. Viking Women and the Sea Serpent – Waffles. Also, best Poopie ever.
    7. Star Force: Fugitive Alien 2 – The “Servo’s Dead!” segment amuses more than should be allowed.
    8. War of the Colossal Beast – The Mr. B Natural Debate. Another great follow-up to a memorable short.
    9. Santa Claus Conquers the MartiansA Patrick Swayze Christmas. ‘Nuff said.
    10. Master Ninja IMaster Ninja Theme Song is simply brilliant.

Least favorite: Hmmmm…the one that stands out the most to me is the Richard Burton sketch from Gamera vs. Guiron, just because it brings to a screeching halt what is otherwise a fantastic episode.
