Weekend Discussion Thread: Favorite Credit Sequences

Alert reader Joshua writes:

I’ve been thinking about this one for a while, but with this week’s episode guide entry it’s never been more relevant:
What’s your favorite credit sequence? It’s a real credit (ba-dum-ting!) to the Brains that there are so many hilarious sequences from the show that revolve around . . . words on a screen set to music.
So what’s everyone’s favorite? It can be an opening or closing sequence. For me, it’s obviously Werewolf’s closing credits. “TUSK!”

My pick would probably be the discussion of who loves femmy movies the most in episode 516- Alien from L.A.
What’s yours?

  1. There are a ton of good ones, mostly from the Sci-Fi era (as previously mentioned), including the songs from Werewolf, Final Justice, and Final Sacrifice. One that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is the repeated shots at the end credits of Riding With Death (“Coming up next: Banacek! I mean, thank you for watching our theater-released movie today.” “H.G. Wells??? They must mean Hud Gomer Wells.” “Any resemblance to real events would be really pathetic.”)

Probably my favorite, though, is the running Peter Graves monologue from The Clonus Horror. “Paulette Breen, who refused perfectly innocent sexual advances from Peter Graves on the set of Clonus and will never work in this town again, tonight on Biography.”

The end credits of ANGEL’S REVENGE, Tom says “Do you remember when
everyone had this poster in the 70’s except it was only one of them and it was Farrah Fawcett?”
My fave though, the end of DEVIL FISH and the Euro hilarity, can’t
    not laugh.

although Castle of Fu Manchu is probably the most unwatchable episode for me, I like the part at the end of the opening credits where Servo sings Harry Allen TOWERS!!!!

Either the television series presentation at the end of “The Final Sacrifice” or the stream of steady, sharp barbs at the end of “Warrior of the Lost World.”

Well, any extended bits have been covered, and I agree especially with “Werewolf” and “Parts: The Clonus Horror”.

Some snippets that always make me laugh:

Beginning of “I Accuse My Parents”: When “PRC” comes on the screen, Servo says “Penile Replacement Corporation presents…”

Beginning of “The Mole People”, when Virgel Vogel comes up as the director: “Virgil Vogel, Va-Va-Voom!”; “Vini Vedi Veci Virgil Vogel” (sp?); “Virgil Vogel, Vestal Virgin”.

In remembrance of Doug Fieger, the beginning of “The Screaming Skull”, when the music hits a certain spot, they do a bit of “My Sharona”.

Finally, beginning of “The Leech Woman”, when they are looking at the strange background: “What do you see, Mike?” “I see lots of ink congealing in random patterns”. “That means you’re a sexual predator”.

    Thanks for reading. See ya!

It may not quite be during the credits but the end of Wild World of Batwoman when Servo completely loses it. END!!! END!!!
Or the credits to Escape 2000 always has me laughing!

That bit at the end of “Being from Another Planet” where they list all the movies they ever did, and Servo contends none of them are worse than this one. Very funny, but, I contend, absolutely incorrect.

No way “BFAP” is one of the very worst of the lot.

The sketch in Cave Dwellers where they make fun of the opening credits with Joel and ‘Bots in costume is my absolute favorite gag based on movie credits they ever did. Great stuff in a terric episode, one of the best and most fun to watch repeatedly.

I gotta pick the end credits of “Final Justice.” Not ionly is the song used over the movie’s credits quite a toe-tapper, it gives the robots a few good opprotunities to rip on Joe Don Baker. “Eat eat eat eat munch munch burp burp burp…”

#107: Servo did finally agree that “The Castle of Fu Manchu” was worse than BFAP.

    1. Mitchell had a great closing credit “Put ’em on your feet, give your dogs a treat/ what a comforatble shoe.”
    2. Being from Another Planet had a great closing sequence to a one of the worst movies they’ve shown (but Castle of Fu-Manchu was equally worse.)
    3. It was cool seeing Iron Maiden’s mascot, Eddie, during the Pod People “Opening credits.”
    4. Crash of the Moons/Manhunt in Space riff sprints during the opening credits were funny (Dick L’Strange when you’re a stranger.)
    5. Lastly, I would tell you how much I loved the chick flick riffs during the end of Alien From L.A. but I’m a guy.

Many of their end credit riffings were hysterical, but I’d have to say that the “femmy movie” debate between Crow and Mike at the end of Alien From L.A. was so funny and well-written, it almost makes up for the lackluster riffing before it.
