Two New Shorts Collections from RiffTrax…

As foretold by the pooping monkey, two new shorts collections were released by RiffTrax today: “Order in the Shorts” and “Shortstoberfest.” They’re $9.95 each.

  5. I’ll buy ’em (mostly because I prefer watching stuff on the TV than on the computer), but it’d be nice to have a full list of the shorts included. (I’m assuming they’re not repeating shorts from previous collections, too.)

    Oh, and MORE DVDs, PLEASE!

Also, is there a real theme or something about which shorts go in which DVD and how they’re named? I’m not complaining, just curious. (Aside from the Christmas one, which, well, duh, the previous ones– for example– didn’t have the shorts in chronological order of release. I’m assuming that popularity of each short, as well as the picture/sound condition are parts of the equation.)

A complete list of the shorts on each DVD, please. Thank you.

Shortstoberfest is as brilliant a title as Order In The Shorts is stupid. May they keep making so many collections that they run out of clever titles completely.

  8. I really liked the first two volumes, but the ones since have been kind of disappointing.

Glad to hear there’s more physical product available, but I’ll wait for a sale on these.

If any of the RiffTrax folks are lurking in this thread (Connor or Erik), are there plans to release the last two live performances? I didn’t get to the theater for Reefer Madness so I want to see that. Meanwhile I did see House on Haunted Hill and I really want a DVD to cherish the memory of the best ever delivery of the riff “Laaaaaaaaaaaaddies.”

  10. First, the running order:

    Drawing For Beginners: The Rectangle
    Families: Food And Eating
Beginning Responsibility: Taking Care of Your Own Things
    Geography of Your Community

    Order in the Shorts

Well, since I just bought all of the shorts listed in these DVDs two days ago, I won’t be buying the discs.

But I don’t think the folks at RiffTrax will mind much, as I spent much more on shorts than I would have on the two discs, and they don’t have to make and mail those plastic thingys to me.

#5 – I prefer watching on my TV as well, which is why I got a digital media player — now I don’t have to deal with the DVDs.

    #10 – Yay!

Already ordered! Now then, Cinematic Titanic, time to get cracking on your newest release. It’s been well over six months since their last one!

Wait, wasn’t “Your Chance to Live” already on Shorts-Tacular Shorts-Stravaganza? And isn’t “Flying Stewardess” still absent from the DVDs?

I have 60 empty slots left in my big briefcace style DVD holder, dedicated to MST RT and CT. When those are filled up I swear I’m going to consider that maybe, someday I might consider, or think about slowing down on these frivolous items.

  16. Sweet! Are both parts of “Call it Free” on Shortstoberfest? It really makes sense to put both parts of two-part shorts (where applicable) on the same DVD; I seem to recall that part 1 of… something… is on one disc but not part 2, or maybe part 2 hadn’t been riffed yet, or something. (Or maybe I’m hallucinating. Anyway.)

Not to get OT or anything, but did anyone ever figure out what “Why Doesn’t Kathy Eat Breakfast?” was about, or what it meant, or why it was made? Why? Why? Why?

Someone should really track down the sources of funding/writing, intended markets, distribution, etc. for the weirder shorts. They’re relics of a bygone era and whatnot, but, um, yeah.

JLH> If it’s Flying Stewardesses you want, I’d strongly recommend the live Plan 9 DVD. I enjoyed that rendition with audience feedback better.

    @14

On Shorts-Tacular it’s listed as Your Chance to Live: Technological Failures. Perhaps YCTL is a series?

hmmm…I half the shorts on one volume and half on the other. Guess I’ll have to decide whether to download the ones I don’t have or buy the collections…the former will probably be cheaper though more time consuming.

  20. Pulatso says:

The again, there’s only one YCTL for download on their site, so maybe not.

I love these Rifftrax DVD releases and at $10 each or less they are a great entertainment value. I got the first 10 of them in a bundle deal from DeepDiscount about 18 months ago for a total that came out to less than $4.70 each! I’ve been ordering each new Rifftrax DVD release ever since. I already ordered these two new shorts discs too.
