Trivia: The seven day shooting schedule for this movie was laden with accidents. JOHN IRELAND and BEVERLY GARLAND were attacked by red ants during their romantic tree-sitting scene. In another accident, Beverly Garland's ankle became so swollen after she twisted it that her boot had to be cut off. ALLISON HAYES broke her arm after falling off a horse.

GUNSLINGER was Corman's last Western. His others are: 1955-Five Guns West (with Dorothy Malone, Touch Connors, Jonathan Haze); 1955-Apache Woman (starring Lloyd Bridges, Lance Fuller, Jonathan Haze, and Lou Place); and 1956-Oklahoma Woman (with Richard Denning, Peggie Castle, Touch Connors, Jonathan Haze, Bruno VeSota, Cathy Downs and Dick Miller).

In addition to his many movies, character actor WILLIAM SCHALLERT has made over 650 TV appearances. In the 1950's, he was one of the many in Hollywood to be unfairly branded as a Communist sympathizer (and therefore was blacklisted) by the House Un-American Activities Committee. You may have seen him in the movie-within-a-movie "Mant"...part of 1993's Matinee with John Goodman. Or on the bizarre TV mini-series Wild Palms. Schallert is best known as Martin Lane on TV's Patty Duke Show and the teacher on TV's Many Lives of Dobie Gillis starring Dwayne Hickman, Bob Denver, Warren Beatty and Tuesday Weld. His sci-fi roles include: a bureaucrat in The Trouble With Tribbles episode of the original Star Trek TV series; 1951's The Man From Planet X; 1954's Them; 1957's Monolith Monsters and The Incredible Shrinking Man; 1970's Colossus the Forbin Project; and 1983's Twilight Zone--the Movie.
