If you should find yourself in the Philadelphia area on Friday, Oct. 22, you might want to head out to suburban Phoenixville where the landmark Colonial Theater (the theater that was shown in the movie “The Blob”) will be again be showing an MST3K episode at 9:45 p.m. This time it’s episode 501- WARRIOR OF THE LOST WORLD. There will be trivia questions for prizes. More info here.
Ticketmaster is offering a “buy-one-get-on-free” sale on tickets for the Cinematic Titanic show at the University of Rhode Island Saturday, Oct. 16. You must buy the tickets by Friday the 15th. You can buy them here. All tickets sold at the door will be full price.
Here’s a list of the upcoming Cinematic Titanic’s shows that have been announced: • Friday, Oct. 15: One show (“War of the Insects”) at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, 730 21st St., NW, Washington, D.C. at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and $35. Also coming up: Mike is a guest on a podcast called “Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe.”
His interview starts at about the 28-minute mark. This one may be the best example yet of a problem I see again and again when MST3K folks are interviewed, a problem that can be summed up with the statement: “Just because you consider yourself a fan of the person you’re interviewing, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do your homework.” RiffTrax is holding a costume contest over on Facebook from now through the day of the House on Haunted Hill live show. Just post a picture of yourself wearing a costume (preferably from a RiffTrax movie) and each week one or more winners will receive a pair of tickets to see the show. The last winner chosen will receive a signed RiffTrax poster and gift certificate instead of tickets.
