The Boston Globe has a short article about Cinematic Titanic to promote this weekend’s live show.
The Boston Phoenix also has an article… ![]() RiffTrax is continuing to release “three riffer” commentary tracks for movies that were previously released by Legend Films with solo commentaries by Mike. This one is “Missile to the Moon.” As with the others, if you previously bought the Legend DVD, all you need is to download the commentary and you’re all set. Download it here. Free sample here. We’ve been told that all these riffs have been rewritten to varying degrees from the initial solo riff. The early solo riffs (such as last week’s “Night of the Living Dead,” were not so much riffs as more typical DVD commentaries with a little riffing thrown in. Those have been extensively re-written, obviously. This one, however, was a real riff, with Mike joined by comic actor Fred Willard. Though I’m sure there’s been a major upgrade, it seems likely that a larger portion of the old material will remain. Trace was interviewed for a piece about the 20th anniversary of the show in the Washington Post’s “Express Night Out” publication.
Cosmicbooknews.com has posted an interview with Mary Jo Pehl that includes some interesting tidbits about her solo writing projects.
If you read the RiffTrax blog, or have read any one of 10,000 twitters on the subject, you know that Mike announced at the beginning of February that he would eat nothing but bacon (while permitting himself various beverages including martinis) for the entire month.
Bridget seems to be resigned to the whole thing, and at least one Web site thinks the idea is awesome. As we reach the middle of the month, you also may have noticed that, until this point, we have said nothing about it. One reason is that until and unless Mike checks into the hospital with malnutrition, his diet does not seem to be directly affecting his work, and we here at Satellite News are all about the work. Another reason is that Mike has eschewed any sort of monitors or “Super Size Me”-style video diary, which, frankly, means that we have nothing but his word that he is actually doing this. (Ahem, not that we don’t believe Mike or anything.) Still another reason is that I figured that when I DID post something about this, I knew the thread was going to be a long one that was going to take over the comments for a day or so, and I didn’t want to do it in the middle of the week. So, have at it: Mike, bacon, nutrition, stupidity, publicity, deliciousness, crispiness and the whole darn thing. Discuss. |
