Monday is the 30th anniversary of The Star Wars Holiday Special and the L.A. Times has an article about that includes quotes from Mike Nelson (and mentions Kevin and Bill).
As our “Favorite Moments,” feature winds down, let’s hear your favorite moments from Paul Chaplin:
• Holoclown in episodes 405- BEING FROM ANOTHER PLANET and 406- ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES — classic MST3k and just about as dark as it comes, and Paul handles the scene beautifully. Any other good ones?
Frank Conniff and J. Elvis Weinstein are slated to be among the performers at a benefit comedy concert, “Laughing at Cancer,” Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. at the Aura Night Club, 12215 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, Calif. Other performers will include Michael Rayner and Cartoon Dump’s Erica Doering. Tickets are $10 at the door, with door prizes and auction items available throughout the evening. All funds raised at the event will be distributed evenly between Susan G. Komen National Foundation, the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition and Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital. The event has been organized by John Scott Lewinski (who has written several nice pieces about MST3K for “Wired”), to give thanks to the various organizations that helped his mother during her cancer threat (she is now in remission following a double mastectomy). If you’re in the area, it sounds like a great night and a great cause.
Preliminary details for the next MST3K DVD set–“Mystery Science Theater 3000 XIV”–was released to retailers today and our friends at tvshowsondvd.com have posted the info. Episodes reported to be in the set are:
There’s no word yet on what bonus material will be included, if any. The tentative release date is February 3, 2009. As always, we’ll post more information about this set as soon as we receive it. |
