My picks, in episode order:
• “Servo on Cinema” looks at Ray Kellogg’s “Leg Up” directorial style–402- THE GIANT GILA MONSTER: Funny and observant.
• Duct tape fashion statements, letters, Dr. F. dines with a friend–404- TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE: The fashion show is hysterical, and the marvelous moment in Deep 13 is the cherry on top.
• Shutting off the holo-clowns–406- ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES: Classic MST3K; dark and weird and off-the-wall.
• Song: “Pants!”–410- HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN: A wonderful musical moment.
• Invention exchange: Big gulp berets, designer bio-hazard absorbent throw pillows–411- THE MAGIC SWORD: a brilliant invention exchange on both parts.
• A visit from Winkie on the Hexfield–413- MANHUNT IN SPACE: Mike is hilarious as Winky.
• Joel defeats Timmy in a battle to the death–416- FIRE MAIDENS OF OUTER SPACE: Joel goes all Sigourney on Timmy. Great stuff.
• Song: “The Gypsy Moons”–417- CRASH OF THE MOONS: Another fun and wacky musical number.
• Gypsy “doesn’t get” Crow (or is it Tom?)–421- MONSTER A-GO-GO: One of the great segments in the history of the show. Brilliant.
• “Hired!” the musical–423- BRIDE OF THE MONSTER: I laughed, I cried…
Least favorite:
Tribute to Earl Holliman!–418- ATTACK OF THE THE EYE CREATURES: A little TOO off the wall.

Posted by Sampo, on April 2nd, 2008 After several weeks of quiet, Cinematic Titanic just sent out a boatload of news to its email subscribers:
• You can now download their first episode for the price of $9.99. So if there was somebody out there who simply hates commercial DVDs, here’s your chance to burn it yourself!
• The, um, pace of new episodes has been a question in some people’s mind and this email answered the question–seems that in the wake of the end of the Writers’ strike and the sudden return to work in L.A., studio space has been at a premium. But, they write, “we have officially secured a stage for the second week of May, at which time we will be shooting the next THREE EPISODES of CT!” Woohoo!
• On April 26th, the CT gang will be in Dallas for the USA FILM FESTIVAL. They’ll take part in a MST3K panel that will also feature Kevin Murphy! The CT gang will also do a live riff of a new episode (they’re not revealing the title of the movie yet).
All this will be at the Angelika Film Center, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas. The panel discussion will be at 5 p.m. and admission will be $8. The Live Riffing will follow at 7 p.m. and admission will be $25.

The gang at Sci-Fi-London are holding another all night MST3K marathon this year, and this time they’re including a RiffTrax film. See the RiffTraxed (is that a word?) version of “Battlefield Earth” along with MST3K stalwarts “Merlin’s Mystical Shop of Wonders,” “The Creeping Terror” and “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.” The event takes place on Saturday, May 3rd, beginning at midnight. Visit their web site for more information.
Reader Andrew has informed us of an error over at amazon.co.uk. It’s listing the MST3K Collection, Vol. 12 DVD set as being region-free. It’s not. It’s coded for Region 1. So keep that in mind before you shell out that £33.12.
