Belated ‘In Memoriam’ 2020

It’s taken an extra month to get this completed, but here it is at last.

RIP Sonny Fox

ENCINO, Calif. — Sonny Fox, a TV pioneer beloved by youngsters in the New York City area as the host of the Sunday morning program Wonderama, died Jan. 24 of pneumonia induced by COVID-19. He was 95.

Fox also served as a wartime correspondent for the Voice of America; emceed game shows like “The $64,000 Challenge” and “The Price Is Right,” and was the inaugural producer on the groundbreaking late-night talk show “Tomorrow,” hosted by Tom Snyder.

Fox had a limited acting career, but MSTies will remember him as Mr. Prim in the movie in episode 1113- THE CHRISTMAS THAT ALMOST WASN’T.

Help for Crist Ballas

Crist Ballas, a longtime BBI staffer, is in the hospital with a heart condition related to COVID-19.

Crist did hair and make-up for numerous MST3K episodes from seasons 2 to 7. He was also a prop builder for MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE and appeared in a gorilla suit in episode 211- FIRST SPACESHIP ON VENUS.

A GoFundMe page has been set to assist in paying what his friends and family fear is going to be a substantial hospital bill.
