RIP George Wendt

LOS ANGELES — Actor George Wendt, who bellied up to the bar to portray the beer-quaffing everyman Norm Peterson for all 11 seasons of the fabled NBC sitcom Cheers, died May 20 in his sleep at his home here. He was 76.

The MST3K cast put on a parody of the series, with Tom Servo as Norm, in episode 1306- DEMON SQUAD.

RIP Joe Don Baker

Joe Don Baker, the leading man turned character actor who broke out playing Sheriff Buford Pusser in the 1973 movie “Walking Tall,” died May 7. He was 89.

MSTies know that he played the title role in the movie in episode 512- MITCHELL and Deputy Sheriff Thomas Jefferson Geronimo III in the movie in episode 1008- FINAL JUSTICE. He was also who was mentioned in a host segment in episode 522- TEENAGE CRIME WAVE.

RIP Greg Cannom


— Oscar-winning special make-up effects artist Greg Cannom died May 9th. He won five Academy Awards and two Saturn Awards.

Cannom is best known for his work on the films including “Hook,” “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “The Mask,” and Titanic (2018).[1] For his contributions, he was honored with an Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 2005 and a Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild in 2018.

MSTies will recall his work for the movie in episode 704- THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN.
