RIP Cokie Roberts

Veteran journalist Cokie Roberts, who joined NPR in 1978 and left an indelible imprint on the growing network with her coverage of Washington politics before later going to ABC News, died Tuesday due to complications from breast cancer.

MSTies will recall that, in a host segment in episode 604- ZOMBIE NIGHTMARE, Mike and the Bots gave Roberts a scalp massage via voodoo.

NPR has a nice obit.

Weekend Discussion Thread: MSTed Villains Who Deserve an Origins Movie

Alert regular Duke of Puddles opines:

In light of the upcoming Joker origin movie, what MST baddie deserves their own movie? Who would star in it and possible storyline?

For me it’s Krankor with Joe Pesci as Phantom. Although DeVito might get the laugh better.

I’d like to hear about Xenos the wizard from “Outlaw (of Gor)” What made him so evil? We want to know!

Your pick?

Weekend Discussion Thread: Recognizing Actors After a Long Time

Alert regular “Sitting Duck” writes:

Ever have a delayed realization that you had previously seen a particular actor in a MST3K film? Perhaps taking weeks, months, years or maybe even decades?

In my case, it wasn’t that long ago that I realized that I had seen Janet Munro (Anne Pilgrim in “The Crawling Eye”) before, as Roberta in “Swiss Family Robinson.”)

I think for me it was when I realized “Robot Monster”‘s George Nader was the agent in “Human Duplicators.” Blew my entire mind.

Weekend Discussion Thread: Worst Jobs in MSTed Movies

With Labor Day approaching, give us your nomination for the worst job ever depicted in a MSTed movie or short.

My pick would be the sampo makers in “Day the Earth Froze.” Except for the guy who got to ride on top, seems like a pretty rough gig.

Your pick?

Joel Interview

Joel gave a radio interview on 97.1 in St Louis on the Dave Glover Show on Tuesday. Joel discusses his life in the church when he was a kid, his early days in standup and, of course, the upcoming tour.

Check it out here.

Thanks to Jason for the heads up.
The tour begins in two weeks and press is definitely starting up. If you see or hear any press, let us know.
