Carmel Valley, Calif.–Doris Day, the honey-voiced singer and actress whose film dramas, musicals and innocent sex comedies made her a top star in the 1950s and ’60s, and among the most popular screen actresses in history, died at her home here May 13. She was 97.
MSTies may remember that she was mentioned during a host segment in episode 311- IT CONQUERED THE WORLD.
The AP obituary is here.

Any movies the MST guys did that you want to see un-riffed and uncut?
Because some of those movies are actually pretty good on their own merits, IMO, or because you’re curious about seeing it in its original form or because the guys talked over that one scene and you were dying to know what the movie characters said so you can get closure?
My choices:
Pretty good: “Sword and the Dragon” cause I love wild fantasy films.
Curious: ALL the Sandy Frank films! A chance to see “Mighty Jack” or “Time of the Apes” in their original Japanese, uncut, with proper translated subtitles would be epic and explain A LOT!
Closure: “Being from Another Planet.” I want to know what happened to those poor people who got affected by the fungus (among us) and Joel and the bots talked over one of the scenes explaining that. Did they die? Did that one kid survive only by amputating his arm? I want to know!
I’ve always felt that the SAMPO got short shrift, as it was explained in the movie, but it got riffed over.
What’s your pick?

Last week’s WDT begs the companion idea, “Bad MST3K Movies as Re-Done by Good Directors.”
“The Deadly Bees,” as directed by Billy Wilder, who was also a great script writer: It becomes a film noir with serious conflict between Mr. and Mrs. Hargrove, and Doris the bar maid/housemaid is a real love interest of Hargrove’s. Vicki comes to Seagull Island not to battle exhaustion but alcoholism, and Dr, Manfred is much more menacing. Tess the Dog is NOT voiced by a human. The Bowler-Hatted-Man has a bigger role that actually makes sense, somehow.
Um, Batwoman joins the Avengers? It could happen!
What’s yours?
