 LOS ANGELES — James Karen, the instantly recognizable character actor perhaps best remembered as the shady developer in “Poltergeist,” died Oct. 23 at his home here. He was 94.He was also noteworthy in such films as “The China Syndrome” (1979) and “The Return of the Living Dead” (1985) and on the finale of NBC’s “Little House on the Prairie.” But MSTies will remember his role as corrupt university president Dr. Wendell Rossmore in the movie in episode 405- BEING FROM ANOTHER PLANET. I’ve been getting emails from this young lady for a while, and I have to say that what she is doing is … remarkable. Any description I could offer would pale, but I will try:
If you have owned any of the collections from Rhino or Shout, you may have noted, but perhaps rushed past, the introductory screen. This young lady has, among other things, made them an art form. She freely admits that her efforts may be perfect for our “Ward E” section. If it’s true–and I hasten to note that this is not an official announcement–here are five of the six titles that will be on season 12: 1201: MAC AND ME Also notable: The name of the series is called “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet. Hmmm… What do you think? Mike Bloom of the Hollywood Reporter has a nice long story about MST3K at 30.
