NEW YORK CITY — Daytime Emmy-winning actor Thom Christopher, perhaps best remembered as for his long-running role as mobster Carlo Hesser and his meeker twin brother, Mortimer Bern, on the ABC soap opera “One Life to Live,” died Dec. 6 in a hospital here after a long illness.
He was also known for his turn as bird-like alien Hawk on the 1979-81 NBC series “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.” Christopher joined “One Life to Live” in 1990 – he was only supposed to work one day on the daytime drama. MSTies, however, will recall his roles as Troxartas in the movie in episode 703- DEATHSTALKER AND THE WARRIORS FROM HELL and Shurka in the movie in episode 1111- WIZARDS OF THE LOST KINGDOM II. The Hollywood Reporter has the story. Thanks to Gordon for the heads up. MIAMI — Songwriter, singer and music producer Steve Alaimo, who participated in the creation of “the Sunshine Sound,” died here November 30.
Working in the ‘60s and ‘70s with artists including Sam & Dave, KC & the Sunshine Band, Betty Wright, George McRae, Timmy Thomas and Clarence Reid, he was a prime architect of their sound, who helped bring the likes of Sam & Dave and Harry Wayne Casey to the world’s attention. MSTies know him for his role as Rod Tillman in the movie in episode 207- WILD REBELS. He was also mentioned in a host segment in episode episode 521- SANTA CLAUS.
