RIP The Giant Spider

Various lowlifes are constantly looking for large amounts of unguarded metal to take to scrap dealers to get cash (often to buy drugs). When they happened on the metal frame of the giant spider from “Giant Spider Invasion,” dollar signs probably appeared in their eyes.

And so, farewell, giant spider…

Kevin to Appear at Salt Lake Comic Con

Kevin is slated to appear at Salt Lake Comic Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 5-7 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. He will not be part of any panels, as far as we can tell, but will be signing autographs and posing for photos all three days at the Big Finish Games booth, booth 408. (Big Finish Games is the new company for the “Tex Murphy” series of video games–say, is Kevin related to Tex?)

Weekend Discussion Thread: MST3K Baseball Promotions

Alert reader Brandon writes:

In “The Girl in Lovers’ Lane,” Dr. F envisions Evil Event Days at baseball games, where the team gives away harmful and/or humiliating products to spectators.

Let’s imagine some baseball team, somewhere, major or minor-league, decides to have a MSTie Night. What would you like to receive as a giveaway? A Joel Robinson bobblehead? Crow’s wire mother to the first 1,500 kids 12 and under? A cap with the Deep 13 logo?

Anyways, as we enter the home stretch of the regular season, I thought that might be a topical conversation-starter.

I would say promotions based on the MSTed movies are also in bounds, such as maybe a guest appearance of the pickle monster from “It Conquered the World,” who would do battle against the regular mascot.

What would bring YOU to the ballpark? (Let’s assume this is a minor league team, where almost anything goes.)

Frank’s New Job

Frank’s job at John Fugelsang’s show went away when Current TV was replaced by Al-Jazeera America. He has landed at “Totally Biased with Kamau Bell” which will debut on the new FXX network Sept. 4.

Obviously, a show called “Totally Biased” is a bit politically charged, so comments have been closed for this entry. Feel free to post on the show’s Facebook page or follow it on Twitter.
