Our sources at Shout! Factory have given us the titles for Volume XXIV, and they are:
310- FUGITIVE ALIEN — forklifts and all… 318- STAR FORCE – FUGITIVE ALIEN II — yes, the entire Bacchus III saga… 617- THE SWORD AND THE DRAGON — another of the Russo-Finnish trilogy comes to DVD… 624- SAMSON VS. THE VAMPIRE WOMEN — featuring Frank’s departure.
I was thinking about Ed Wood movies a few minutes ago and Bela Lugosi’s role in them in particular, then I realized that I wouldn’t have really become a Bela Lugosi fan if not for MST3K and Rifftrax. This, of course, brings up the question of which actors were introduced through MST3K that led people to become fans of them? In my case, along with Bela there’s no denying Beverly Garland and Reb Brown.
I’m going to expand this to include directors as well but the guy I want to mention is Bruno VeSota, who I had never heard of before I discovered MST3K and who I really think had some talent and who I love to see in anything he’s in.
Our pal Bruce Westbrook has a review that mostly focuses on the extras, which we appreciate ’cause a lot of hard work goes into them and they often get short shrift.
We did favorite costumes worn by a bot — in fact, I just realized today that we didit twice. Oy.
But alert reader David has a topic we haven’t done, vis:
How about personal costume favorites worn by Joel, Mike, Frank, Clayton, Pearl, Bobo and Brain Guy? My favs for Frank and Clay were playing Rollie Fingers and Ted McGraw.
I think I’d have to pick the Clayton and Frank “gussied up to beat the band” in episode 406- ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES.
