Open Dragon*Con Thread

Here’s a thread for reports from Dragon*Con in Atlanta. Give us reports about Mst3K/Cinematic Titanic/RiffTrax panels and events, and any other happenings that you think MSTies would like to hear about.

Updated: Reviews of the New ‘Manos’ Release

It’s from Ian Jane at RockShockPop.com, who says “Fans of MST3K or Manos alike should consider this an essential purchase.

Our pal Bruce Westbrook has his review.

Update: WTF-Film.com has a review.

I’ll update this post as more reviews come in.

UPDATE: By the way, I just got a note from Jordan Fields, who says: “I think there’s an assumption from your readers that our “Manos” release is a Shout Select title (which I understand since it’s a re-release). It’s not. It’ll be in stores.”

So if you’d like to pre-order it direct from Shout! Factory, we’d appreciate it if you used this link.

If you’d prefer to pre-order it from Amazon, please use this link.

Now Available from RiffTrax…

Download it and see a sample here.

Weekend Discussion Thread: Mixed Double Features

Alert regular Kenneth Morgan has a good suggestion:

CT/RT/MST Double Features: Come up with a double feature comprising one title from Cinematic Titanic or RiffTrax and one title from MST. I have two possibilities: first, “The Magic Sword” from MST and “Jack the Giant Killer” from RT. Both have similar tones and storylines, both feature over-the-top villains and less-than brilliant heroes, and both are actually pretty good, if pretty goofy, movies. Second, “The Leech Woman” from MST and “The Wasp Woman” from CT. Both feature women of a certain age who use less-than reputable means to retain youth and beauty, but pay for it big time.

I’m going to open it up even further and allow CT/RT double features, like a Don Dohler double feature of CT’s “The Alien Dactor” and RT’s “The Galaxy Invader.”

Would would you pick?
