The Cinematic Titanic cast are slated to do a live riff of “The Wasp Woman” Saturday, June 21, 8:30 p.m. John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East in Los Angeles as part of the Los Angeles Film Festival. Somebody using the screen name “king of grief” suggested a thread about favorite actual songs from the actual movies. Good idea, King! You can pick any musical moment you want, but I’m trying to stick to those moments where the movie grinds to halt so somebody can do a complete number. They can be your favorite for any reason.
(By the way, if you have a suggestion for a future weekend discussion thread, I’d love to hear it.) Here’s mine, in episode order: Least favorite: “Where Can You Be?” from episode 507 – I ACCUSE MY PARENTS. After “Are You Happy in Your Work,” it just feels gratuitous. What are yours? Kevin Murphy will appear Saturday night, June 7, in Louisville, Ky., as part of the Last Call Film Festival. The event will be at the The Rudyard Kipling, 422 W Oak St. Admission is $5. Kevin speaks at 11:30 p.m. “on topics ranging from why Hollywood sucks to working on MST3K.” The movie schedule for the evening includes Four Eyed Monsters and The Corndog Man. 
..it’s “The X-Files: Fight the Future,” riffed by Bill Corbett and Mary Jo Pehl. Bill, Mary Jo and Kevin Murphy contributed riffs. And so did three other folks. As Bill explains here, he has invited two regulars from the Rifftrax message boards, Josh Way and Courtney Enlow, along with Sean Thomason. The revamped MST3K.com is now up and running, featuring “Riff of the Day,” “Planet Theater” and “Gypsy’s Host Segment Drive-In.”
For those wondering what has happened to the cartoons, Barb tells us “they’re in ‘cold storage’ for right now. We hope to bring them back as the site develops!” |
